Do your own homework here before you buy anything over there.

IMO: DX lens saving may not be much. You can still check out the prices before getting to see if is worth while.

Agreed..My findings denotes only the "D" lens and primes saved u quite a bit.. ;)

Wow..Bro! congrat on your purchase,beautiful lens.

:bsmilie:

DC's is so hard to find even for used. (be it 105 or 135)

Might have to settle for 85f1.4, but before tt, will try Shan Sui Po tml.. ;)

Is the 105DC now out of stock for new ones already? Is 135DC the only DC lens out of production? About 8 months ago once a while every month a DC goes B&S. Now not. A few months ago Cathay photo quoted me $17xx for 105DC though they could not sell one at once yet. Had the impression they could order from somewhere.

Its out of stock almost everywhere..grab one if u can find.. esp the 135 DC (is even hotter than the 200 f4 micro)

Confirm not in production.

Bro, confirmed still in production (checked with Nikon SG and HK) but u have to bear with the long long wait (last is 8 mths back, only 1 or 2).. It is not those 50mm 1.8 or 24-70 f2.8 mass production cycle kind.. as its a special purpose lens that only comes up once in a while or upon demand :)

dude. i am still waiting for you to start using the 200mm!!!!

post some shots!!

Stuck in HK.. next week u will c yah..

i am sure you can find some bugs to shoot in HK... or else shoot something else other then bugs.. like the carpet in your hotel room.. might find some ticks..

Hi just sharing about macro lenses. I enjoy 'experimenting' and 'stretching the limits' with macro lenses although I am not a 'macro expert'.
I like the close focusing capabilities of macro lenses. They can be used to produce quite special perspectives. I currently own 3 macro lenses and a wide angle that performs nearly like macro. By the way, I shoot with a FX body.
1) Micro Nikkor 200mm/f4 is great for smaller stuff and for insects that don't want us to get too close to them. I also use it for general telephoto shots, most of the time in manual focus mode.
2) Zeiss Makro-Planar ZF 100mm/f2 is great for medium distance macro. I also use this as a portrait lens shot wide open at f2. Great bokeh and colour from this Zeiss lens. Again manual focus.
3) Zeiss Makro-Planar ZF 50mm/f2 for general photography. This is the lens I leave attached to the body most of the time. Has closeup capabilities yet consistent performance from 24cm all the way to infinity even when shot wide open at f2.
4) Zeiss Distagon 25mm/f2.8. Although this is not named a makro lens, it focuses down to 6cm. You can shoot something so close, and yet get the wide angle perspective for the background, and then you can decide if you want the background sharp (stop down the aperture) or soft background (open up the aperture).

It fun experimenting with lenses with macro/makro capabilities but not necessarily only for macro shooting alone. 25mm/50mm/100mm/200mm all with close focusing capabilities.

Happy shooting.
Fred

That's informative, hope to see ur macro works in the gallery someday;)

Click on the link below to see a couple of shots I did using the Distagon ZF25mm/f2.8 on a D700. The subject was less than 10cm from the lens. The 25mm gave it the perspective. Opening the aperture to 2.8 gave the 'blurred' background and boken. No flash. Indoor ambient light.

Bro sorry to OT but just curious how was the 105mm macro lens? Is it enough to shoot bugs? Actually was stuck halfway hanging as the price of nikkor and some 3rd party ones prices is 40-50% difference

Bro when are you posting pics from the 200/4?

BTW, thanks for "bringing" the 1.4 back for me. LOL. Great little lens.

Hi Numnumball,

I am Happy for you getting what you want!! Post more macro shots for us please~~~~ ;)

Sorry to ask...I am going over to hk to get the 105mm VR macro & 50mm f/1.4 but was not sure if they have stock at mansheng...should I call to mansheng before i go hk or?
