Let me explore this little chink ..
- a hyperactive kid on the milford sound boat ride. the blue jacket was attached to a leash which the mum was holding to.

An unfortunate bird that got stuck in my RAV4, gave it a proper burial along milford drive. 1st day in Christchurch there was this mother duck that crossed a busy road with her ducklings on a file, and I squished one of the little ones. Killed several other hares while driving at night. One tourist admitted to killing a hawk on the road ( I nearly hit one - they were just too busy feeding on the carcass on the roads )

A shot from Moeraki boulder. Relatively easy drive from Dunedin, We drove there in early morning darkness in an attempt to shoot sunrise - we reached at 7am. If you reach before 8am, u will not see the "entry fee" box being erected :bsmilie: ( the box was kept by the nearby restaurant and they only open ard 830ish ).

* oh just when we reached just just before the sunrise, we saw a guy with a dslr and an angry woman companion who stormed off the beach .The guy went on mumbling something and followed her back to the carpark. we guess he must have irritated someone big time, and not to mention, he didn get the sunrise either.

Unfortunately Moeraki was one place that most of my panos did not turn out well due to wave phase differences across the frames :(

You got nice colours at the Moeraki Beach at least. I did not realise they charge after 8am, I reached there at 6am, we drove off Oamaru at about 5am. But we saw fog and overcast only. I love all the beaches there. the slope is very gentle, giving us very generous wave lines.

yes emlee, i was lucky it was a good morning that morning. ( i am still abit sore i didn get good panos from the visit ) Actually from the spot, a few km southwards towards direction of dunedin, there is an ulu stretch of the beach that has other " moeraki " pieces, but kinda broken and you would not get nice round boulders. More unexplored and i have no idea how u can go down the beach, but will give different photographic opportunities.

Almost sunset. Outside our lodge in misty peaks. the curvature was a deliberate distortion at the 12mm end of the sigma 12-24.

Bruce Bay, a smaller corner with fallen trees. Unfortunately the sandflies cut short my beach visit.
Because of strong winds from the coast, the trees along the coastal drive assume really dramatic curves ( no i did not stop by the road sides to take them )

i love this palette (the orange near the horizon). that plus the stars at the top makes this even more dear. you have a strong foreground which anchors well. very nice.

It was a composite of 2 shots at the same location but about a dinner apart outside our apartment at Misty Peaks. took the first shot with abit of sunset left but did not get the stars. the second one was near darkness but lacked the details of the trees.

Retrospectively one might have tried to shoot at a longer exposure with a GND reversed to block the brighter sunset hues to afford a longer exposure for the stars.. dunno why, didn occur to me then.

ur star trail compositions gave me lots of ideas for future travel shoots nxt time
