Memories of New Zealand ( South Island )

Ok, it's just past Lake Hayes, which means I pass it on the way to Lake Hayes and I think I had not noticed this - probably in a hurry to hit Lake Hayes! I believe I was on the clock - to Lake Hayes, Arrowtown and then the jet ski, before heading to Queenstown to check in at the motel.

A quick and dirty pano of sunset from the vehicle window while stopping transiently at Bruce Bay. ( the first visit was rather hurried )

i am spellbound looking at these photos. it made me hate myself though for not being able to afford to go there. :(

thanks velasco for ur comments! i hope to go visit NZ again nxt time, but will need to save up all over again :bsmilie:

Mirror Lake that was not too mirror when i was there.
Along a scenic drive from Te Anau to Milford Sound. You probably have to be there in the morning for the water to be still. Didn't shoot much there. I was thinking MAYBE climbing down below the walking platform might give more interesting views closer to the water.

The Collie Sheep Dog at Tekapo, that no one misses.
So crowded i didn have much of a window to shoot it alone.
BUT. if u r staying ard the area anyway, then u can easily try to shoot star trails ard the Collie statue or around the Church Of Good Shepherd.

Onsen hotpool in Queenstown, one of the top attractions listed on tripadvisor. For folks who visited the onsens in Japan and Taiwan, you will be wondering why the folks chose to list this as the top attraction. Anyhow, it sports a button controlled roof that can retract to expose the starry skies - would be beautiful if you book their Candlelight Package. Remember to book before hand, and wait for their confirmation mail. I booked a month prior, and when i reached i was pleasantly shocked to find that they did not recieve any bookings from me. Luckily there was a spare room available, but there was no more slot for the Candlelight package.

But it was still a delightful soak with ur loved ones after a long tiring day

* it is a short downslope walk to the onsen hotpool hut after parking the car, a short drive from the Shotover Jet centre. As the signage for the onsen hotpool issin particularly prominent , you just have to pay abit more attention while driving since you would probably have a rough guide on the distance from the map ;)

Mountains and a stream ahead. The front facing windows and roof is retractable

Looks almost as if she was smoking.

Taken at Kappa Sushi Cafe, Queenstown. We went because of the rav reviews on Tripadvisor. Turns out food was average, nothing too exciting. The restaurant resides in a little more interesting stretch of Queenstown where u can find Korean cusine and a potpourri of other alternate flavors.

One hairpin loop away from Homer Tunnel. At Milford Sound, one moment it is sunny, and more often the next moment rain clouds start to gather. The area recieves some of the highest amount of rainfall in NZ.

A retake of Thunder Creek Fall at a slightly different angle in the evening. there was an adventurous dude who tried to go a little closer to the falls to take pics. Again, i would think there will be better or more interesting angles if one managed to cross the pretty shallow river to get much nearer the falls. ( at ur own risk .. )

#78 is a nice take. But like you said, it is safe. the river is really shallow, 1 of my regrets: not getting my feet wet for this location for the shoot.

OMG, very nice series. every single shot of yours is just so magical that make you wan to revisit it again.

Moeraki Boulders just before sunrise. Luckily the tides were relatively low. Who comes first in the morning gets to reserve the shooting position. Though i am sure if i stay there long enough i will be able to think of other ways of getting them.

Silence of the lambs.
I still love them. Lamb chops

Chanced on a trailer that was collecting sheep from a farm.

ui,Ryan,
What do you mean first come gets to reserve shooting position? Was there a lot of photographer there? I mean, I thought there are quite urban and usually not so many people :p

There was a couple that was earlier than us. But i suspect there might be some disagrement betw them and the guy was seen walking behind his pissed off female friend who left the beach in a huff shortly after we arrived. Then after that a slightly older couple came to the beach. All happened before sunrise. And of course all that arrived that early came with their dslrs and tripods.

Hey, I stayed over at this place too in queenstown last week. I thought it was really big for its price.

The only place where I took sunrise shots.... too cold in the morning for me....

A shot taken from queenstown Marina Apartments. Spacious, and great facilities for a good price. We got a unit that looked much like a corner terrace locally. Kitchen Fisher and Paykel appliances were tastefully designed and placed, almost abit too luxurious for us. Unfortunately we only stayed in Queenstown for a day. Took a few shots hastily before our checkout in the morning. For the purists, nope i didn really take care of the lines :bsmilie:

Nice view of a lake and some moutains ( which unfortunately blocked the views of the Remarkables behind ) We had a brief breakfast by a small table outside the balcony. Hot tea with toasted bread i think ..

yup the lodging definitely did not disappoint. the only problem was we only stayed there for one night. in fact the bed was so comfy and cozy we slept till abit later in the morning the next day!
