You can't compare a car to a dslr la bro, unless you can find a car for 4k in singapore. If you don't have a car , you can practically buy a different entry level dslr every month for as long as you want. Choice your indulgence. I don't make money from this , i'm a hobbyist.

A900 btw is a very value camera, hardly expensive for what it can do. It's not a luxury item. The cz 24-70 on the other hand i think is overpriced.

No DSLR Announcements Coming from Sony at PMA

Looks like it could be a quiet PMA this year as far as new digital SLR announcements go. A spokesperson for Sony said today that the company will not have any "Alpha" DSLR announcements prior to or during the PMA show in Las Vegas in early March.

The spokesperson, Linda Barger who handles Sony's digital cameras and accessories, told PDN that the company will concentrate on new consumer point-and-shoot models and camera accessories at PMA, some of which will be pro-oriented.

Though Sony is a relative newcomer to the DSLR space and by no means a bellwether company for the professional camera market, just a year ago at PMA, Sony executives unveiled the full-frame "flagship" model in its digital SLR line, a 24.6MP camera that would eventually be called the Alpha DSLR-A900.

According to Barger, Sony would be "following up with digital SLRs," this summer.

So far, none of the other big players in the professional DSLR market, including Canon and Nikon, have announced any DSLRs in advance of PMA. That will likely change in the coming weeks, however, as the show draws nearer.

hmm.... thats why i bought a 1k car in aus... haha... spend too much on gear and no money buy newer cars :bsmilie:

Kinds of screws my upgrade plans... no body announcements??? Wow!!! I was really hoping for a A900-lite version... 24MP is a bit too much to swallow... I need more 8GB cards!!! So I think it more or less settles my purchasing decision... A900 then... no choice... now wait for price drop only...

look on a bright side..at least the price for A700 and A900 and it siblings still maintain as it is. No drastic price drop

I read somewhere from dpreview, the prices are going up, due to stronger yen. Not sure if this is just rumor. :dunno:

yes the price had rise in other countries already, it just that we haven't been affected yet

This is a currency to currency issue, as long as the Singapore Dollar stays strong as well, it will not directly affect the Singapore market.

The UK however is hard hit as the pound is in a free fall.

You can set in the camera to take 13MP photos instead of 24MP. So, problem solved?
