actually, the 190XB seems very similar to the Slik Pro 330DX.

the slik weighs in at abt 1.2kg, can support 5kg of weight and has a taller maximum height than the 190xb. and it costs quite a bit less than the 190xb

I've seen 330dx on my last shooting at BG.
I like the weight and the price is within my budget.

Can, but you have to unscrew and screw back the top section of the centre column, so much so that you will be pek chek til you want to die. :bsmilie:

I've checked Amazon and B&H. Looks like it's out of stock in the US too.

may i ask, is a tripod and the head is all i need for a setup? what about the quick release thingy? i was thinking if i can have something attached to my camera and all i need is just click it on the head instead of screwing it.. would appreciate if someone can offer some advise...thanks a lot

most head if you buy, will come with a quick release plate.

exceptions are, heads with plates customised for each camera body, hence buying of plates is additional to the setup. or, head does not come with quick release setup.

heheh.. you are right that there will be Xprob version for 055 too. There are more 190x series coming up too.

Hi guys,

Just got a 190XProB with a 486RC2 BallHead at my local photo shop in Malaysia. Quite satisfied at the moment, even though there is a bit of wobbling with column fully extended. Didn't have too much time to use it though. And I don't have experience in tripods (my first), but I was seduced by the flexibility of XPro and reasonable size / weight.
