United face Italians again:

Inzaghi again:sweat: He is the one who is capable of spoiling our show! we got to win by at least 2 goals so that we no need to struggle at San Siro!

most importantly, not to let in any goals to AC! but that will be more difficult as AC's attack issnt so much of a 1-man team like Roma.

Wah its exciting! Now we've set a date with Chelsea at Wembley and fighting them for the league title. If we can have another date at Athens with Chelsea again, it will be a 3 times meeting. Do or die! The rest is just extra! :bsmilie:

Milan hailed 'Kings of Europe' by Italian press

Milan is tough but if we have our 1st team back, I'm confident can beat them. But unfortunately, our defence will still be a patched-up unit. Dicey situation. Inzaghi is very dangerous. Hopefully, Man Utd's fast attack can crush their defence.

ouch!!! :bsmilie:

U watched the Semis at Old Trafford? Boy! Old Trafford has never seen such a small crowd/attendance before! :bsmilie:

Rio Ferdinand may be back sooner than expected.

"Rio Ferdinand may feature for Manchester United after initial examinations showed his groin injury is not a long-term problem."

That is good news! Haven't had any good news about injuries for so long. I think he might face Sheff Utd this wed.

Haha sure la. Wembley in London leh, not anywhere else. Thats the difference between Chelsea and Man Utd. Man Utd can fill any stadium in UK, even against Burton Albion!

The FA screw up. Can just use the smaller Man City's stadium or Anfield for such teams. :bsmilie: I read that they even allocate less seats to Man Utd than Watford, and they can't sell all of their allocations!

Yeah, no teams can beat us when comes to filling up the stadium. We've got the best attendance in the EPL or even the whole of GB. :bsmilie:

Sure big turn out! It will be a sea of onli 90000 of Red:devil: :bsmilie:

Yeah, allocate all the tickets to the ManU fans and, am very sure, they can fill up the whole Wembley Stadium. It will be a sea of Red.

FAYC: Liverpool 1 United 2:
United earned an impressive and invaluable win over Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup final first leg on Monday after coming from a goal down at Anfield.

Reds skipper Sam Hewson scored the winner from the spot after an own goal from Liverpool defender Robbie Threlfall drew United level following the home side’s early lead.

It was an extremely entertaining game with both teams endeavouring to play exciting, attacking football. But it was United’s superior second half display that edged Paul McGuinness’ side in front in the tie, with the return leg at Old Trafford on Thursday 26 April.

Hewson had taken the captain’s armband in the absence of Craig Cathcart - the 18-year-old Northern Ireland defender was withdrawn from the squad as he is likely to be involved in the first team’s clash with Sheffield United on Tuesday.

It was a blow as Liverpool, the current Youth Cup holders, have a more experienced team, with several players regulars in the Reserves at Anfield. United’s team on the other hand contains a number of schoolboys and first-year Academy scholars.

The Reds carved out the first real chance of the match inside ten minutes through a rapid counter attack. Danny Welbeck burst forward from midfield before feeding a pass through to Febian Brandy. The Reds striker’s shot went wide, but the move showed early promise.

However, the home side took the lead after 15 minutes following good work and a precision cross from Ray Putterill on the left wing, which allowed Craig Lindfield to head past Ron-Robert Zieler from close range to make it 1-0.

Liverpool’s experience showed as they kept possession well in midfield and went in search of a second, but United still looked dangerous on the break.

After half an hour Chris Fagan started a fine United move, finding the lively Welbeck on the left flank. The United winger surged forward before returning the ball to Fagan, whose low shot forced a good save from goalkeeper Martin Hansen.

It was a much stronger end to the half for United, and the momentum carried McGuinness' side forward after the break as the Reds put Liverpool under sustained pressure. An equaliser duly arrived after 50 minutes when Scottish winger Danny Galbraith whipped in a dangerous cross, forcing Liverpool defender Robbie Threlfall to try and head clear the danger, but he could only deflect the ball into his own goal.

In the 75th minute United claimed the lead after Brandy jinked his way into the penalty area. As he shaped to shoot, Liverpool captain Jay Spearing clipped the striker's heels, giving Hewson that chance to seal the win.

The United skipper stepped up to despatch the penalty with great calmness and assurance in front of The Kop, sending Hansen the wrong way as his precision spot-kick nestled in the corner of the net.

Liverpool hunted for an equaliser late in the game but the Reds held on to make it advantage United heading into next Thursday's second leg clash.

United: Zieler; Eckersley, Chester, Strickland, C.Evans; Welbeck, Drinkwater, Hewson, Galbraith; Fagan (Bryan, 76), Brandy (James, 90).
Subs not used: McCormack, Woods, Moffatt.

United quartet up for PFA awards:

United have three players in contention for this season's PFA Player of the Year award.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are among the six-man shortlist which also includes Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.

Ronaldo is also in the running for the PFA's Young Player of the Year award. He is joined by team-mate Wayne Rooney who has won the award for the last two years.

Gunners' midfielder Fabregas, Reading striker Kevin Doyle, Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon and Manchester City defender Micah Richards are the other nominees.

The winners for both categories will be revealed on April 22. The PFA Fans Player of the Year, which is polled each month across the season, will also be announced on the same evening.

Papers: As good as Jordan:

Just Like Playing Jordan
Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo have been hailed as the Michael Jordans of football. Watford's Jay DeMerit witnessed Jordan's immense talent as a kid growing up in America and after facing Rooney and Ronaldo, he claims they are just as unstoppable as the basketball legend. "Right now they are in the best scoring form of any team in the world," said DeMerit. "You can't stop guys like Rooney and Ronaldo, all you can hope for is to contain them. They used to say the same thing about Michael Jordan in the States and they are the same type of players. They will always create opportunities because of the qualities they have. They come at you from all angles and make life very difficult."
David Anderson, Daily Mirror

Meanwhile, Rooney himself claims United’s strike force is at its brilliant best. “I don’t think we have ever played as well as this," he said.

EPL player compared with NBA player!

11.30 more hours to go Rio could face Blades:

Rio Ferdinand could be back in action against Sheffield United despite limping out of Saturday's FA Cup semi-final victory with a groin injury.

The Reds' defender aggravated the knock he picked up against AS Roma last week, but Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that he is in with a chance of facing Neil Warnock's men.

Ferdinand was replaced against Watford by Darren Fletcher, who filled in at right-back while Patrice Evra switched to his favoured left-back berth. Gabriel Heinze completed the emergency manouevres by joining Wes Brown in the centre.

Of the other defenders on the treatment table, Gary Neville (ankle) and John O'Shea (calf) are expected to return sooner than Mikael Silvestre and Nemanja Vidic (both shoulder).

Eighteen year-old centre-back Craig Cathcart gives Sir Alex another option. Recently given squad number 32, Cathcart is likely to keep his place on the bench on Tuesday night.

Milan Watch: AC win away

AC Milan moved up to fourth place in Italy's Serie A with a 3-1 win at struggling Messina on Sunday.

United's Champions League semi-final opponents were 2-0 up by half-time thanks to goals from Kaka and Giuseppe Favalli.

Brazilian striker Ronaldo then sealed victory on 85 minutes with Milan's third, before Stefano Masiello grabbed a consolation for the visitors in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Roma responded to their 7-1 hammering at Old Trafford with a 4-0 win over Sampdoria. Francesco Totti fired them in front on 21 minutes at the Stadio Olimpico and added a second six minutes after the hour. Matteo Ferrari struck the third on 72 minutes, before Christian Panucci completed the rout three minutes from time.

The win keeps Roma nine points ahead of third-placed Lazio - but they remain 16 points behind the unbeaten league leaders Inter Milan.

The first leg of United's semi-final against AC Milan takes place at Old Trafford on Tuesday 24 April. The second leg is eight days later on Wednesday 2 May at the San Siro.

Lets keep the thread alive and floating on top of Kopitiam with some discussion, besides the matches, on our likely acquisition when the summer window opens. Besides Hargreave, who is likely to come over, Nani is also another possibility. Lately, there also has been talk of SAF wanting to buy Michael Owen and the latest target is Blackburn's Morten Gamst Pedersen.

I don't fancy Owen given his age and being injury prone. To me, his best days was when he was with Liverpool. Pederson, to me, is not good enough to take over Giggs. Who else, guys?

Meanwhile, Sir Alex has invited Ben Foster to be United’s guest at the FA Cup final. Foster revealed: “United goalkeeping coach Tony Coton said I would be going with them to Wembley as part of their squad."

I think we shouldn't be going for M.Owen too injury prone n abit old liao...even the Reds r not even thinking of having him back!

Like i always say we should dig into to the youth team to unearth some of the gems there and start polishing them as there might be Giggs n Nevilles in there!

Boss: Cup final can wait
Sir Alex Ferguson may be relishing next month's FA Cup final battle with Chelsea, but the United boss insists there is the small matter of the Premiership title race to focus on before the two sides lock horns at the new Wembley.

United booked their place in the first Cup final at the newly built stadium thanks to a 4-1 victory over Watford at Villa Park at the weekend.

The Reds' boss is looking forward to the showpiece but believes United have a host of other Cup finals to come through before 19 May.

"The final is there waiting for us and we're going to enjoy the occasion," he insisted in an interview with Manchester United Radio. "But first of all we've got the meaty business of making sure we win this league now.

"We've got six Cup finals in the Premiership. We've got to win those six games - that's imperative. If we can do that it will represent an achievement that we've never bettered - our points total will be amazing."

The United boss is hugely proud of his team's recent exertions and says the team spirit within the camp is second to none.

"I can't praise the players enough," he declared. "Not only have they shown great quality, they've also shown real guts and determination.

"That has spread right through the dressing room, it doesn't matter which player comes in or which team we're up against all the lads are up for it. The dressing room is wonderful at the moment - all the players are enjoying their football."
