Man Utd 2-0 Sheffield Utd.

Easy win but passing was not the best. Got lots of chances but Sheffield Utd defended very well. Made a lot of last ditch tackles/blocks and saves. Carrick and Rooney's goals are very nice.

Evra got injured and had to sub off. Unbelievable! When I tot he is coming back into the team, he is off again! Dunno the extend of his injuries but it doesn't look that serious. Entire backline out injured. Credit to Fergie, he doesn't complain and goes about fixing the defence. Man Utd's defence is now patched here and there and everywhere.

I think Morten Gamst Pedersen and M.Owen dun make good signings. They will make good squad players but not 1st teamers I guess. Gamst Pedersen dun seem to fit into Man Utd and M.Owen's game is based on speed and at 27, he is nearing his twilight zone and we dun really need another Saha!

If Nani is like/similar to Ronaldo, then I will prefer him to Gamst Pedersen. As for striker, I think Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will make a good signing. I think he will be better than Torres and cheaper than D. Villa.

Heard of Lancaster FC? They got zero points with 3 games left!

MAN OF THE MATCH: Michael Carrick
Effectively decided the match within the first five minutes and maintained his recent high standards for the rest of a match where, like his side, he was often in cruise control.

MOAN OF THE MATCH: Colin Kazim-Richards could have been dismissed for one misjudged tackle against West Ham on Saturday. Perhaps he should have been for raking his studs down Patrice Evra's leg. Instead, the player to depart was the Frenchman, stretchered off. 'A bad tackle,' said Ferguson.

MANCHESTER UNITED VERDICT: Job done. Their six-point lead is restored and Chelsea face a considerably harder game, at West Ham, to halve it.

SHEFFIELD UNITED VERDICT: Perhaps the most vocal group of visiting supporters at Old Trafford this season certainly made themselves heard. With Watford and Wigan still to visit an intimidating Bramall Lane, they could have their say in the relegation battle.

BACK FOR BORO: Ferguson is confident that John O'Shea and Rio Ferdinand will be fit to face Middlesbrough on Saturday, meaning Darren Fletcher and Richardson will not be needed to act as makeshift full-backs.

Papers: Blades boss seething

Warnock: Refs Are Scared
Neil Warnock accused ref Rob Styles of being scared of upsetting Alex Ferguson as Manchester United went six points clear at the top. Sheffield United should have been given a second-half penalty when Gabriel Heinze brought down Luton Shelton. Blades boss Warnock fumed: “They have to give the decision and then upset Sir Alex. I know people don’t like upsetting Sir Alex. As well as 75,000 people you’ve got him patrolling the touchline. It’s difficult to make major decisions like that here so I am not surprised he didn’t take it." United were already in control thanks to a goal early in each half from Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney. But Argentine Heinze could have been sent off. Warnock, whose side are one place and two points out of the drop zone, added: “It’s a penalty and a sending off so it’s their decision to make.”
Martin Blackburn, The Sun

All the tabloids report on Tuesday night's 2-0 victory over the Blades, secured through goals from Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney, which put United six points clear of Chelsea.

The Sun claims £18million will be enough money to persuade Bayern Munich to sell Owen Hargreaves to United this summer.

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes decries rumours linking Morten Gamst Pedersen with a move to Old Trafford, insisting the Norwegian winger is happy at Ewood Park.

Yah they quite poor thing. If u read that article, they have to really scrimp and save. The club can only afford to pay petrol $$$ to its players. Not even a single cent for transfers. Even S League clubs are much richer! If Roman will to give them 1M, it will sustain them for many decades!

Yes i think Ribery suits Man Utd's style. He can play left back and attack. Thats what SAF like and Evra has the edge over Heinze in this aspect.

What are our remaining matches? Just need to see which are the final hurdles before claiming the title.

Kaka: We don't fear Reds

AC Milan midfielder Kaka insists he and his team-mates have nothing to fear ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash with United.

The Italians travel to Old Trafford next Tuesday for the first leg, before entertaining the Reds at the San Siro eight days later.

United may have trounced Roma 7-1 in the last round, but Kaka believes Milan's record in the competition will stand them in good stead for the tie.

"Manchester United are a great team, but Milan are not afraid of any side in the world," Kaka told the Daily Star. "We respect them yes, but we are not afraid.

"We have a tremendous record in the Champions League. We have played 10 finals and won six.

"Our semi-finals with United will be as good as any knockout games you could wish to see."

Henry backs midfield wizard:

Thierry Henry believes Paul Scholes would be fully deserving of this season's PFA Player of the Year award.

Scholes is in the running for the prize along with United team-mates Cristiano Ronaldo - the bookies favourite to win it - and Ryan Giggs.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard and Henry's Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fabregas are the other nominees.

The Gunners' skipper expects Ronaldo - who is also nominated in the Young Player of the Year category - to triumph but admits his vote went to United's other midfield wizard.

"My vote went to Paul Scholes," revealed the Arsenal captain who scooped the accolade in both 2003 and 2004. "You saw how much Manchester United missed him last season, and you have seen what a difference he has made when he has come back this year.

"If Cristiano Ronaldo does not win the main award, I think he should take the young player award.

"All he was missing was goals and assists - but he has added that this year and I would be very surprised if he does not win it."

Skipper excited by season finale:

Gary Neville is relishing the challenge of fighting on three fronts as United prepare to enter the final month of the campaign.

The Reds' skipper, who has been out of action with an ankle injury for the last four weeks, says the team's progress so far this season is already an achievement to be proud of. But he insists the players are determined to ensure they end the campaign on a high.

"It is a great prospect for all our players knowing we are going into the last month of the season still going for the three major trophies," Neville told Sky Sports News.

"It is where we wanted to be for the last three seasons and now we are here, we are going to enjoy it.

"There are similarities (to 1999) as we are still in the three competitions and it is tremendous achievement to be in the three competitions at this stage, not just for ourselves but for Chelsea as well.

"But there is a long way to go and we haven't won anything yet, we don't have any medals round our necks yet.

"The hardest work is still to come," warns the 32-year-old. "There has been a lot of work done by both teams in the first ten months of the season and this last month is the all-important one.

"Whoever wins those crucial moments in the matches will go on and finish the season the happiest."

Neville could be back for United's Champions League semi-final first leg at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Papers: Ron 'paranoia'

Boro's Ron 'Paranoia'
Sir Alex Ferguson claims Middlesbrough are "paranoid" about Cristiano Ronaldo. Middlesbrough face their nemesis once more on Saturday - Ronaldo has been involved in three penalties in their three meetings with Manchester United this season. Boro feel Ronaldo dived for two of them and assistant boss Malcolm Crosby called the Portuguese a cheat when he went down under a Jonathan Woodgate challenge to win the decisive spot-kick in last month's FA Cup replay. Ferguson has defended his star ahead of their fourth and final encounter at Old Trafford, insisting he has done nothing wrong. "I think Middlesbrough have become paranoid about Ronaldo, which to a certain extent, you can understand when you acknowledge that penalties have cost them in their last three fixtures with us," said the United boss. "They have disputed them all, but for me the referee has got it right on all three occasions."
David Anderson, Daily Mirror

Diego Maradona has admitted his pain in hospital is being eased by the joy of watching Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentinian legend told personal physician Alfredo Cahe he was ‘enchanted’ by Ronaldo and called him a ‘phenomenon’.

The Sun claims Louis Saha has suffered a setback in his bid to be fit for United’s Treble tilt. According to the paper, the French striker’s damaged hamstring has not responded to treatment as well as hoped.

Former Red Roy Keane has told Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho that his Sunderland side can beat the Blues, who moved to within three points of United after their 4-1 win at West Ham.
In transfer news, The Mirror claims Italian striker Cristiano Lucarelli wants to join the Reds. The Livorno skipper, 31, wants to quit his Serie A side in the summer and his agents have contacted Sir Alex Ferguson about a £6m move.

Everton will land a £1.65million windfall if United win the Treble due to clauses in the £20m transfer of Wayne Rooney in 2004.

Roy will always be Roy so full of confidence!

Why we need a 31 year old Cristiano Lucarelli? Anyone know this guy?

Hope the Toffees will get their windfall which is not a lot but will come in handy for them!

Yeah, who wants a 31 yr old striker who's over the hill. Who is this guy, btw? We need a young striker, preferably someone in his mid twenties and has many more years to offer.
