M mount module from Ricoh...

I think the GXR is best used "naked".

Looks promising!

Just got my M mount module today, interesting thing, they included a lens checker in the package to test for compatibility with lenses. Very good idea!

Ricoh GXR next to Sony NEX-5N, both with viewfinders mounted.

Forgive crappy pics.

YOu purchased it from abroad?

Yes, had a friend buy it for me.

Interesting. Do start a new thread with some comparison pics and your views on using each set-up.

The Sony battery is still charging, got to play around with the GXR though. Had to update my firmware to 1.40 since I was still on 1.17. Have to give it to Ricoh, they REALLY support their products. They have not only fixed bugs but added more features and functionality to a relatively old system.

Still figuring out the camera since it has been so long since I used it and they have added so much via firmware updates.

A little bit about the manual focus.

There are 2 main tools to help you.

1. Zoom, you can zoom up to a max of 8 times.
2. Focus assist, via highlighting of edges. You can use this in color or black and white. I find it easier in black and white.

Alternatively you can use both zoom and focus assist.

One thing to note, the EVF that I used to love on the GXR does not feel the same, maybe I have been spoilt by newer ones on the Panasonic GH2 and Sony A55. I am sure the one for the NEX-5N will be even better.

Just when you thought Perth is dead with electronics, camera, etc. They are already selling the A12 Leica mount with a special discount of 50% on the electronic viewfinder & a GXR camera strap as a free gift.

What's happening to S'pore?

Eh? Why do you even ask such a question? Singapore was never a shopping paradise for electronics, or even branded clothes.

Actually, many of us here in Perth find it a shopping paradise for electronics, compared to here. But now we just bbb online from HK instead.

Happily trying out the mount with my 28mm Elmarit now:)

My personal impression is that Australia was never a electronics paradise, what with software costing more than elsewhere, never mind the relatively shitty internet.

On the other hand, I have always found that the US often has very competitive prices to what I find at SIm Lim Square, and it doesn't matter which time of the year you buy them at.

Sorry! I just re-read what I wrote, and it sounds like I'm saying that Perth is an electronics paradise - quite opposite! I was referring to Singapore compared to Perth! hoho...!
Prices have been improving slightly though. When my friend ordered his GXR from HK, once GST etc was put on, it ended up more expensive than getting it locally :)

My local shop 5 minutes walk from here sells it, they sell it for AUD$799 here.

That's the reason why I bought it, comparing to buying it in S'pore & shipping over.

Could the thread please move on with sample pics and opinions please? :)
