M mount module from Ricoh...

oh, you dun use the EVF? i haven't got a chance to touch a GXR yet. but for EVFs, i dun have good experiences with them before. which is why i'm in 2 minds whether to swap my m8 for the GXR.

Right. The EVF is out of stock. I tried the EVF of NEX-5N before but didn't like it. It's definitely way better than the olympus E-P2's EVF but still, it's very hard to gauge clearly if the subject is indeed in focus (without zooming). This GXR's LCD is so easy to focus that it's like looking through the prism of an SLR, WYSIWYG. (of course outdoor under strong sun light will be out of luck. unless use a shade but that is bulky n ugly. Trade-off luh)

Understand that the EVF of the GXR is not cheap and not that great also. maybe wait till they produce something better than the Sony one lah.

Ha.. I must have found the most unusual "high speed standard lens" for the GXR-M:- a Nikon-S RF mount W-Nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens with a non RF-coupled Amedeo W CONTAX-LEICA adapter ring. I got this lens n ring thinking I could use it on my Leica M cameras but it was a mistake. It could not even be mounted onto any M-cameras without damaging the RF cam. Now guess what? It can be focused properly on the GXR-M from 0.9m to infinity!!

OK, it's a little more bulky than the Summilux-M 35 FLE but for 20% of the price, hack! This lens is supposed to be legendary (grand father of UC-Hexanon 35mm f2 lens, IIRC).

Hmm... the next lens to try would be the Carl Zeiss 16mm f2 for arriflex. But need to hunt for a suitable adapter first.

Just tried out the Focus Assist feature of the GXR today. Didn't like the mode 1 (make the view way too busy and focusing accurate is not that great too.) Tried mode 2. The view is weird (machiam wood craft) but the focusing accuracy is surprisingly good. Linked it to FN1 button, after using it for focusing, half pressed the release button would bring the view back to normal for composing. I think it is a winner.

There goes the EVF (tried the VF-2 this afternoon at the shop. NG.)

EVF comes in really handy under bright sunlight or if you plan to catch some lens flare! ;)

Yeah. I have no issues with the EVF. Not the best in the world, but it's way good enough.

Well, whatever floats your boat.
