M mount module from Ricoh...

What would make the GXR M mount module stand out relative to the NEX 7 is if they incorporate profiles into the camera module that would correct for distortions that occur when say mounting an ultra wide on the module.

I wonder if they would go that far though.

I personally feel that the main difference is that the Ricoh is designed to be a M mount camera right from the beginning whereas the Nex 7 is just an E mount camera with a third party adapter.

It doesn't quite amount to a great difference or selling point though, especially considering that the NEX7 sensor is pretty impressive.

Looks like we got quite a few fans here. I like mine. As much n more than my GRD3.

I bought GXR when it was first released. So far got so many firmware upgrade it is like a different camera. Initially AF so slow, now GXR af is fast like m43.

By contrast, leica X1 until now...really cmi

GRD3 is always special to me. Mainly size difference guah. The slight difference in size means my GRD3 always gets in those difficult to reach places other cameras cannot. Jeans pocket size makes huge difference.

I love my GXR but I really don't spend enough time using it. Hopefully that will change with the M module. Like Artspraken has mentioned, Ricoh is a company that really stands behind its products. The GXR has received numerous firmware updates that not only fix bugs, improve usage but also adds features.

I had my doubts when I first bought the GXR with the A12 50mm module because it was very gimmicky, but I am glad that Ricoh has proved me wrong and is still continuing to support what can only be considered an old camera by today's standards.

In comparison, Sony NEX3? End of line. Sony A33 End of line. Panasonic GF2? GF3 in less than half a year?

I hope they will release a HD movie module and also allows adaptor mount.

From what I have read, depending on demand, they have explored storage and even projector modules. So a HD movie modules is definitely not out of the question. The most important question here is price. If the M module is priced reasonably it will be a hit. If it is priced around a used M8, then I see a huge problem.

Is there a local fan base in Singapore? I only have the 50mm module and have been loving it in the last few months. The 28mm with lens hood looks sexy!

Haha... Currently I only know three crazy guys with the same setup. :-)

Anyway, QT a bit.

Just got the macro 50mm. The bokeh pretty nice. It's slow with the original 1.07 firmware but after updating to 1.36, it's relatively faster. Great stuffs Ricoh!!!

Last one could be the image make by the 15mm Voigtlander lens, not sure, I don't understand Japanese, it says 23mm after using the module, so 15 X 1.52 = 22.8mm.

I think you set it such that it's not quite available for public viewing...

Sorry if you're not in my contact/friend list you won't be able to see, my status under "moderate' by flickr that I cannot disable, or if your registered email end with .sg you wouldn't be able to see as well.
