M-Mount lenses on Lumix G1

My impression is the early adopters of C-mount are unhappy over the poor resolution of cine lens. And if can wait, better still the Oly "pro" m4/3 body due much later, with higher buffer, shorter screen&shutter lag - my key complaints of G1.

Went down to the old man's place and found Gommy's Topcor 50mm/f1.5 lying on the bench. I have never seen or heard of Leica screw mount Topcor before... And such things can only come out from Gommy... and of cos... Hacker too...

Mount it on the G1 and took a test shot...

Pardon for the noise and a little hand shake...

Woa! You touched my Topcor ah...Nice right? Solidly built right? hehehe:)

I must say... Amazing Lens...

Such items are not made in the year 2009 anymore. Even if it does, with such fine workmanship and expensive material, would probably cost more than a Noctilux...

Mounted Benny's Canon 50/f2 on the G1... did another senseless test shot...

Somehow... all these front focus back focus problem with RF got no problem with the G1... :bsmilie:

It's not f2 but a very rare Canon50mmf2.2!

Chiif, thanks to your post, I get a few pm wanting to buy my Topcor but if I so decide to sell one of them, first priority is going to goes to somebody whom I told to go buy it originally- you know who you are;):bsmilie:

I was there also today, saw the Topcors...

Post #53 is where the recommendation came from?

Not through Post#53...saw it even before your Sonnar thread in RFF when it started with no BuyItNow/BestOffer & ended with no bidder-had asked someone to bid, but he sat on it. It re-listed with BuyItNow/BestOffer. Keep pestering that guy to bid cos rendition like canon50f1.5, he still sit on it so decided to just get it even though I have a copy already.:)
It's in trying to look for info on Fujinon after I got my Fujinon50mmf2, that I bumped into Leotax camera & then Topcor lenses. Both Fujinon & Topcor lenses were sold with Leotax camera. Soon, saw a Topcor on eBay, bought it to try (but rather expensive though) & like it. Searched & found that it's half Sonnar. Continue to search & came across this second one soon after.

One thing (in this case lens) leading to another. This is what the deadly leica virus will do to you :bsmilie:
Before you know it, you will end up with a museum of Leica Lenses:bigeyes:

i noticed the one on ebay now is a m-mount topcor.. but haven't managed to find much online info on the lens or enough pics taken by it that demonstrates its character.. do you think the price is fair? also am wondering what's the minimum focusing distance..

Is there one? There is only one which states M but it is the model, not the mount.

This isn't M mount if you are referring to this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Topcon-50mm-F1-...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50
Mininum focusing distance is 3.5 feet.

If you are familiar with Canon50mmf1.5 (Sonnar clone), it's very similar (almost identical) in look & rendition.

Topcor50f1.5: To differentiate from Canon, I use the black & original filter for Topcor

thanks for the info. was so tempted to almost press the 'buy it now' for a moment..
thanks for rescueing me from the Evil Bay !:bsmilie:

but honestly it still looks likes a lovely buy, especially when it's in black..and appears nicely built too..

well, given this is the G1 thread, even with the wrong mount, can still shoot on G1 :)

this GN RE Topcor has been reported to put out a higher amount radiation than lenses of the same era. Literally, can get poisoned :bsmilie:

Wah!!! Rare lens up for grab!!! Where to join the waiting list!? On the G1 it's actually a 100mm f/1.5 leh... Hmmm...

Chiif, so if got CX to G adaptor, this one can become 200mm f/1.5!!!? That's faster than the previous Canon EF 200mm f/1.8!!

Cheers,
