LX5 - Availability in Singapore & elsewhere

Care to share where you got it?

Was at AP and managed to have a feel of a newly opened demo set...heee. Was quoted $680 with 8GB Class 4 SDHC w original Panasonic case.

Think generally that the price. I got mine at the quoted price at TK Foto. Asked the salesman how many sets have been sold......more than 10 despite it only arriving after lunchtime.

Sometimes the pricing would depend on your "long-term relationship" with the shop.

Got mine for less than $660, with 2X 8G SD cards and case. :)

So far this is the best deal. Got mine at a little more, satisfied with the deal.:)
He may be a regular super BBB of bigger toys from the shop, if you know his arsenal.;)

$680 is a decent price. I sold my LX3 some mths back and bought a Samsung ST550 touch screen. The Samsung is very compact and the touch screen is very nice, but I do miss my LX3. So will check out the LX5 one of these days ... . :)

anyone who is interested to know if the ricoh lens cover will fit can be safely assured that it won't work, coz the LX5 lens thread is a bit bigger than the LX3 one.

Just got the Panasonic Lumix LX5 too.
This will be my new battlefield camera.

oh noez.. im camping since the start of this year for it, should I just get it tomorrow? =x

just wondering, is this made in japan or china?

sounds like there are over 20 or even 50 people holding on to the new lx5 ):

prolly japan? for 1st few batch of production line?

Potential Buyers Beware!!!!

Seems that the battery on LX5 is different from the previous LX series.
I hope the LX5 battery is not chipped. Otherwise Panasonic would have screwed their consumers by charging a dear price for any extra battery.

I wouldn't have bought the camera if this is indeed the case!!!!

Chances are you're not switching off the beep tones completely.

There a

1) Beep Level
2) Shutter Volume
3) Beep Tone and
4) Shutter Tone.

Switch BOTH the Beep Level and BEEP Tones to 'OFF' and that sound do it.

I set mine on everything 'OFF' during operations when I had the review camera.

IIRC, the LX5 batteries are 'security' coded meaning to say that will only work with the LX5. Give it a bit of time and I'm sure the 3rd party manufacturers will come up with something - very quickly.

All the best. :)

You're wrong. Yes, BCJ13E is chipped, but it doesn't cost $500, retail price is $89.

Nothing bloody special, just the dumb factories deciding they had enough with generic batteries spoiling their cameras.

ALTHOUGH

Give it a few weeks and I'm sure China will still be able to crack the id secured chip.

Latest price check:
i think that they are all seeling at abt the same price. $660 was a steal a guess.

MS - $680 w 8gb + case
TK - $680 W 8GB + case
Parisilk - $690 w 8gb + case
Lucky Store - $680 w 8gb + case or $699 with 16gb + case
AP - $680 w 8gb + case.

Just got to see which shop is convenient for you and who has better service! Happy buying...
