Paiseh, no net access on weekend here.
I'm not here to sight see, got things to do. So yup, no bring Canon just my LX3, don't want too much attention. But I'm starting to miss the responsiveness of my DSLR, the f1.4 and cleaner ISO 1600.
Can see some of my pics in the below link.

I'd say if you look at the overall, they are pretty equal. Even with the much bigger sensor size, the Fevon sensor is very noisy and I don't really see much improvement in their noise reduction technology. Coupled with the F2 va F4 advantage, I believe in low light situation, they are pretty much equal, slight advantage to LX3 IMHO. However, with sufficient lighting (ie, staying below ISO400) the DPx series will beat the hell out of LX3.
how much you pay for the spare battery ?
I would like to find out from users what is the shutter response time of the LX3. I don't expect it to be as fast as a DSLR, but do you find it a bit laggy?
Thinking about kids and pets. When you are framing a shot and waiting for the right moment to hit the shutter button, and you spot the moment -- how much time passes before the shot is captured? Thanks.
It is kinda of laggy, compare to a DSLR when you want to shoot at that moment.I would like to find out from users what is the shutter response time of the LX3. I don't expect it to be as fast as a DSLR, but do you find it a bit laggy?

how much you bought the lens? so with the lens, you no need to use the zoom in and out function? since you can manual adjust?![]()
i think this is just adapter tube+filter. no wide lens attached yet, besides, even you put the lens on, it will still use the camera zoom in/out. So no change in operation, except that when you attach the lens, we just change the 'Conversion' in the menu settings.how much you bought the lens? so with the lens, you no need to use the zoom in and out function? since you can manual adjust?
thanks for your clarification. i tried the model in some camera fair. to actually make the (infront clear back blur) effect, i have to select the object to do it. any other way? Feel like getting to replace my old camera.i think this is just adapter tube+filter. no wide lens attached yet, besides, even you put the lens on, it will still use the camera zoom in/out. The camera seems to be a bit not user friendly due to so many functions loaded in 1 compac camera?
thanks for explaining. i need a camera to take good shoots indoor. i need to adjust apecture and shuttle speed.Front clear back blur is Bokeh. Compact is not good at producing bokeh but from the pictures taken by some, quite impressive for the LX-3. If you are into bokeh, then probably a DSLR with a fast lens (F/1.4 or 1.8) will satisfy you.
From the forum, you can see that most users know what they want from this little camera. I dare say most are DSLR ownsers too. So you need to also know what this camera can do for you before you take the plunge. If you are just looking for a basic PnS, then plenty of options out there.

From my brief time with the LX3, I didn't have much issue with shutter lag itself. But I found AF lag (time to acquire focus) noticeable. Was toying with the idea of using the cam for a wedding shoot (at least some pics), but the AF response and the noise at ISO 800 were the deal-killers for me at least.I would like to find out from users what is the shutter response time of the LX3.
