The first time I have ever bought a camera from Panasonic. The LX3 is a really great little camera. Panasonic has a real winner with this product. Unfortunately, the let down seems to me to be more with the manufacturer's/local distributor's back up support. I'm going on a trip soon and I'd like a spare battery but cannot seem to find a retailer in Singapore that has an original battery for the LX3 to sell. The only alternative is to buy no-name batteries which fit the LX3 but I have read on this forum, appear to have significantly lower capacities than stated on the battery. Many other accessories for the LX3 still cannot be found at local stores. :thumbsd:
Panasonic has yet to include the RAW converter for the LX3 in Adobe Camera Raw updates or Apple Aperture Raw updates when cameras launched by other manufacturers at the same time or later than the LX3 have already done so eg. Nikon D90. Still have to rely on the rather clunky (my opinion only in case anyone finds this comment offensive) Silkypix which I may add (at the risk of offending yet more people - apologies in advance) appears to me have an interface that does'nt seem to follow the standard Windows conventions and appears be written for some other language (probably Japanese) then translated with all the typical "Engerish" typos.:thumbsd:
In summary - a great little camera - probably the best point n shoot camera in the market for the time being, marred only by poor manufacturer/distributor support. My two cents worth.
