How does this camera compare with the Sigma DPX series?

Paiseh, no net access on weekend here.

I'm not here to sight see, got things to do. So yup, no bring Canon just my LX3, don't want too much attention. But I'm starting to miss the responsiveness of my DSLR, the f1.4 and cleaner ISO 1600.

I'd say if you look at the overall, they are pretty equal. Even with the much bigger sensor size, the Fevon sensor is very noisy and I don't really see much improvement in their noise reduction technology. Coupled with the F2 va F4 advantage, I believe in low light situation, they are pretty much equal, slight advantage to LX3 IMHO. However, with sufficient lighting (ie, staying below ISO400) the DPx series will beat the hell out of LX3.

Battery should be good for 200 - 300 shots.

I've never run my battery flat yet but I guess 200-300 sounds like a reasonable count if you were just doing nothing but shooting. However, I have a bad habit of regularly viewing and reviewing my photos on the LCD between shots, and leaving the camera switched on for long periods at a time (because I take candids of the kids and waiting for the camera to come on can mean the difference between getting a nice shot or not), etc etc etc. Used in this manner, my LX3 battery level falls down to low in about half a day. For my next trip, I'll need a spare battery to make sure that I have enough juice for a whole day.

Sorry to barge in like this.... I just called mscolor and was quoted $699. Comes with 4G card. Din't mention abt 2nd battery. Is it a good price? Which other place can I get this beauty? Thinking of getting this babe before leaving for my trip this Friday.

I called MSCOLOR last week and was quoted $680 with 4GB card and case. I asked the model of the case and the lady answered was not sure.

Just to check those who bought. Is there another official case for LX3 beside the DMW-CLX3? Are you guys getting this case as standard?

Also looking to get a set before a trip...

I've also just called MScolor today, $699 with screen protector, pouch, 4GB SDHC and OEM battery.

No stock and have to wait till 171108(Mon) for new stock to come in.
