Are there any known issues doing a conversion with this camera?

I've been scouring the web looking for a tutorial for this camera but no luck so far. Does anyone know of one??
I have found a quick photo tutorial on the cloudynights forum from a guy who had converted his camera, so at the moment that's all I've got to go off.

I've seen numerous threads using a 350D which seems to be similar but apparently the clean sensor function in the 400D makes things a little more tricky.

Did this 3 times. It's one of the hardest unit to convert. You can follow the instructions with the 350d. When you reach the sensor, you have to cut the two wires (red and blue if I'm not mistaken) running to the sensor. That's where the cleaning thing is done. You don't have to be careful in lifting the AA filter cause you'll probably break it anyway :bsmilie: (it's thin and fragile). Then you want to get rid of the glass where the two wires are connected (it's also an AA filter). After you have successfully assembled the unit, disable auto cleaning in the menu. Otherwise, you'll get an error 99. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pointers :)

I'll probably document my attempt, if I remember.

Cutting the wires is an easy option but you need to ensure the ends of the wire wont accidentally short.
For me I don't cut the wires. There's a connector somewhere in the front, just pull it from the connector. As for the sensor part, I allocate a slot to return the vibrating mechanism.

Good luck

Yeah... This is better. But I actually glue gun all the cut wires. Making sure it will not accidentally short the board and toast it:bsmilie:. Good pointer on the sensor David!

Fastest and easiest way is to disconnect the wire from the white connector.
No need to worry about the short circuit
( But sometimes, a bit troublesome to disable the auto cleaning menu)

See you soon bro. Lunch on you. :bsmilie:
