Hi we are looking for photographers to do product shoot for our online business.

Product is luxury watches. Each watch must be presented in at least 5-8 different angles. They must be edited & compressed to our requirement that we have set.

We have already set the parameters for the requirement so it's just a photographer & some editing, quite an easy task.

We will pay S$20/watch. Working hours can only be 3-9pm on a 1x or 2x weekly basis even on Sundays. This will be a long term assignment as we have many to do & a weekly of at least 10-15pcs for the next few years. Please contact us only if you're just looking for a long-term part-time job.

If you do not have your camera, we have a Nikon D80 with Nikkor 60mm micro, 18-200VR lens & SB800+mini studio+tripod.

Please PM me with your contact & attach portfolio if possible.

If you can also handle dreamweaver etc to update webpages, we can discuss further on this.

Thanks for reading.

Do you have any samples of how you would like the shots done? Website?

Just to clarify, is that $20 per shot/angle per watch plus editing, or $20 for at least 5-8 shots / different angles per watch plus editing per pix?

Thank you for the PMs. My mailbox is full now, how do I increase without losing them?

It's S$20 per watch only. Each watch must cover 5-8 angles including editing. From my point of view, it's quite easy & fast as I've been doing this for years. I can complete one set edited well within 30mins. We have to keep it low to stay competitive as we only make as low as S$50-100/watch while S$500 on average and we have a daily running costs that goes in thousands of dollars.

I have friends who are reputable professional photographers that charge min S$500 per shot including editing but that is the fee for big brands that do glossy catalogues on one time basis and that includes full studio support, equipment, styling & theme which I don't require.

Watches must be taken @ our site & you can bring the files home for editing to deliver via email or hardcopy in few days to a week's time.

Since you have the equipment, and you make it sounds like it is such an easy task to shoot watches...and the editing aint exactly complicated.
Why dont you do it yourself?

I dont think I have ever commented on exploitation appearing in this forum.
but S$20 for a few angles + editing on a LUXURY WATCH (which i believe to be a few thousands dollars) is simply too much.

If I have offended you, please be offended.
You wanna make $$ selling watches, we wanna make $$ taking photos too.

My POV is not personal, just my 2cts:

It's too low for such shoot, as $20 for 5 or more angles, then doing editing, is not worth the effort, of bring camera, set the lights, being equipment etc.

I put it bluntly, this amount is an insult.

hey what is your e-maill add ?

I believe someone have intro CS to him. usually that the case.
Happens in singaporebrides where CS is mentioned that provide a source of freelancer .. WTH

sooner or later, CS name will be dirt cheap.

No offence to TS too. If pay $20, i have to use your company Nikon camera, fluorescent light act as studio lighting, use your company computer to edit, maybe Photoshop 7. Since TS can edit within 30 mins. Why not pay the photographer $10 to shoot. You keep the other $10 since you mentioned you want to keep it low to stay competitive. NEWBIE ALERT to enhance your portfolio. Think thrice, not twice.

Not @ all & mind you I have been doing the job for over ten yrs.

You seem to have little knowledge about business or at least our business. You don't charge your fee in percentage against the value of subject. At least that's not how I view it. It's product photography, be it a pair of S$20 shoes or a S$10K dollar diamond ring. The latter of course requires more care & cost of insurance. Unfortunately, we don't make over 30% or I'd be glad to pay more. I don't make a living doing photography so I don't know how you guys charge but if you get offended please look away.

I did not ask for professional photographers & I have discussed this subject with them since a few of them are my friends & they know the business. I have also posted the fee they charge for a proper job. But think about it, for a few thousand dollars job. They need to conceptualise, supply equipment, models, time & processing plus a guaranteed job delivered within time frame or get sued.

Students or amateurs can take up this job as part-time & I can teach them & as mentioned. I have the equipment. You can make S$1K plus for less than 20hrs+/- work on site with the rest of editing @ your own time @ home or office.

Anyway, I have already received more than 10pax interested in the job. I'll close this job for the moment & discuss with them. Thanks for all the attention.

I am 31 this year, and has been self-employed and thank god..I have been living comfortably with being able to pay for my own office accomodation, residence and a car for the past years.

$1k plus for 20+ hrs of shooting+editing?
by shooting 5 angles for S$20 with 30 mins of editing per watch?

I am not trying to be difficult..
lets say one can shoot 5 angles in 15 mins (which is really damn bo chap style of shooting)
and edit all 5 images in 30 mins...( i am not even considering the time you need to spend to select the 5 images!!)

total time spent per watch - 45 mins
one can earn - S$20

in order for one to earn lets say S$1500.....he/she must shoot 75 watches for you
75 watches will take up a total of (45mins x 75) = 3375 mins (or 56 1/4 hrs)
how did you come to 20+ hrs??

And i have not even talk about the time one need to spend to travel to your site, the setting up time, the preps, the briefing time....

When we talk about business...shouldnt we calculate everything to maximise profits and minimise costs?

Good for you that there are people who have knocked on your door and wanna take up the job, but that doesnt change anything....

How about this. Can anyone of you please share what is the salary of a junior photographer now? Perhaps we can hire a full time or someone willing to work halfdays, weekends whatever with or without CPF etc.

My job is quite mundane. Just indoor, single subject nothing fancy.

asking junior photographer to do??

if you reject the shots, the poor photographer don't even get to earn the 20 bucks for all the hard work and time spent on this.

good luck....
not, not good luck to you, I mean good luck to whoever take up the job.

I do not think the photographer will be willing to take up the job, if he rejects the photos.

It is probably a "pay me $20, I shot x photos, edit x photos", submit pics. No rejecting and accepting of pics involved.

Dear grainpixel. You are getting so agitated that you are not reading my posts properly. If I wanted pros, I would have asked production firms, look for yellow pages or magazines for contacts. I see many students & hobbyists here so I thought it would be the right place to ask.

Good for you to live off comfortably. I suppose your are a photographer? Few yrs ago wedding photographers charge S$1.3-1.8K for one full day's job which includes film/prints, 0600-2300hrs+/- while some even give albums etc. Commercial projects are better off but starting out is not easy unless you have contacts & firms pay up on time. I learnt photography in my school days & didn't pursue it. A few of my schoolmates have gone on to become celebrated photographers now while one went on to be an insurance agent :)

We will gladly pay S$5K for a print-ad but that's not what we need now.

Again, I've said I don't need "fancy" photography skills & I have the equipment & place.

FYI, I can shoot 5 angles/watch of our requirement well within 10mins & multiples of each for selection. Selection takes me less than 5mins per watch & the rest for editing. Not exactly bo-chap style but simple pics that people can see.

BTW, I said 20+/- hrs on site. The rest is up to you depending on how fast you want to work.

FYI, we used to pay hourly but realised some so-called photographers can't even do proper shoots while some take their own sweet time.

Thanks for working out the hours. I think >60hrs job for S$1500 is not bad money for a non-pro photographer.

Chill-out man.

We will pay S$20/watch.

$20/watch is really an insult.

Imagine I ask u to sell me your LUXURY watch price tagged at $500, but I say take away the battery, I don't need the straps also, and use the hands from 1 of my old watch. $250. Will you sell me?
