We better don't go that far. It won't do any good to us if APD is indeed screwed
We still need after sale support, no matter under warranty or not. Bernard got it right, the best Pentax camera/lens repair guy (hint hint
) on the planet is w/ APD right now, this shows that APD do care about Pentax and about us users. Good price is one thing, after sale support is even more important if we want to expend the local Pentax/Ricoh user base. My own experience w/ APD was pretty pleasant when I sent my Sigma lens over for firmware upgrade. They did it for free even the lens was not bought locally and I had no proof of purchase at all (bought it secondhand). And best of all, it took only about 5min for them to get it done.
We don't mind paying for good and fast service (which Emjay was lagging), but probably not as much as the huge price difference we've seen here. I really want to get the GR locally if the price is attractive, then I can dump the Fujifilm X100 ;p

there is no need to worry about from either side,
as majority of pentax user still buy from local shops, I have seen quite some pink and red pentax cameras hanging on the necks of street people.
only handful of pentax user come to this forum, and not to mention regularly,
only geek people check forum daily and keep up with latest news.
general camera users like my friends, they have no idea about what is the latest, most of general user dont even know what aperture means, and they just go to the any camera shops, and buy what they like and willing to pay, same for general canon or nikon users, pentax user also not necessory to be making smarter choice than the rest.
not mention to buy online, at beginning, I never buy online because scare of internet fraud. most non-geeky people will buy stuffs like milk and fruits in supermarket.
and how many of us actually go to wholesale market to buy fruits and milk stuffs, as monthly family food costs more than camera stuffs.
while most people dont compare there and here, they just go fairprice to buy stuffs, and ignoring checking the cheaper price at nearby small mart (only smart wife does) , not mention ordering online.
people make their choice, but market is driven by the majority people's choice.

Maybe it's the geeks that will give them the repeat sales they want? Not just the accessories related to the camera, but also the different lenses to mount on, or simply different camera bodies?
Or maybe we shouldn't compare milk,apples,oranges,chicken with camera?

But think how much better it will be if price is lower.
Layman will buy based on visibility, brand perception and price.
Pentax can't win on brand perception now.
But now, price and visibility also too poor.
Price, can be fixed now by distro. (and we are only suggesting fair price commensurate to the competition/camera type)
Visibility, can be fixed by distro by pushing it to bigger stores and more camera shops.
It can also be helped by camera enthusiasts like us (we can become more visible with us using the camera in public/events; showing our photos; tell/show friends, etc)
Brand Perception, the distro can do some part too, but its a high mountain to climb at this point, but if the other 2 points get a firm hold, then slowly brand perception will improve with a larger user base.

Can la, but he never factor in the fact that the wholesale markets are few and far between, so the transportation costs may not work out in the end.
It's not quite the same as a $2 MRT ride to Funan or Sim Lim and clicking at home with the computer and adding in the delivery costs.

major brand like apple may dictate the distro and stores. some brand may not have such strong power. we know that only some stores carry pentax.
and dell tried to sell direct to customers.
sometime it's not so simple and/or a direct line between manufacturer-distro-consumers. and for the manufacturer/distro, the stores may be their immediate consumers.
all these may affect the whole pricing, marketing issues.

Well, if that is the case, I think the best customer the distributor has is SGcamera-who sell every item Pentax has but many have to order from distro or from Pentax Japan, 2nd is TK Foto-who said we only sell as set , no lens, no adapter, no battery , then 3rd is all other retailer shops- which carry once in a while some Pentax for display.
Any other customers I missed?
I think at the least, the distro must have a complete set of Q10 and 01-06 lens; popular cheaper lens 18-55WR, 18-135WR, DA15, DA35, DA50, latest camera K-30, K5 IIs, GR , MX-1,WG-3 stocked.

I saw that watch at SgCameraStore Lifestyle shop but not sure if it is for sale. Guys interested can go there check it out. I however preferred the K-Mount watch and hope it will come to Singapore.

That's a really cool watch! Pity not so many people knew about this competition, even around here at the forum. I guess APD should have done better w/ this kind of events?
