Rafa’s right hand man, Sammy Lee has hailed Dirk Kuyt by stating that the Dutch forward is what Liverpool is all about.

Looking back at the amazing comeback at Man City last weekend, Lee had high praise for the Kuyt, who had been slated for his performances by the media and fans.

Lee told liverpoolfc.tv: “There are a lot of people who put a lot of work in. You’ve got players like Robbie Keane putting it in and you could also say he deserves another goal.

“Everyone works very hard to get the best for this football club, and like you say I don’t like picking out individuals. Having said that, Dirk is an example of what we’re about at this football club: hard work and a good level of quality.”

DUBAI INVESTORS PREFER CHARLTON TO LIVERPOOL?​

Sheikh Maktoum's interest in Liverpool could finally be brought to an end - if they carry out plans to invest in Charlton.

The son of Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed, has been in talks with Tom Hicks and George Gillet for some time over the potential purchase of the club, talks which as yet have proved fruitless.

The Guardian reports that Hicks travelled to Dubai recently to discuss a potential sale with the Sheikh, and Mike Ashley also attempted to offload Newcastle while he was in Dubai last month.

However, in a surprise move Sheikh Maktoum now appears to favour an investment in Championship side Charlton through his Zabeel Investments vehicle.

The Guardian quotes Zabeel Investments' executive chairman Mohammed Al-Hashimi as saying: "We feel now is the right time to make a strategic, long-term investment in Charlton and get CAFC back to the English Premier League where they belong.

"The passion of the fans at Charlton, the heritage of the club and the unique status it enjoys in the community make it an exciting proposition for us."

The Charlton board, unsurprisingly, seem rather pleased at such news. They released a statement yesterday that read: "In spite of being approached by various English football clubs as well as a number of well-known clubs in Europe and South America, Zabeel Investments believes Charlton is the right club for them."
