POMPEY TO OPEN CROUCH BIDDING

Talking of sagas, The Independent is predicting that Portsmouth will bid £10m for Peter Crouch this week to spark another.

From the sounds of it, Pompey's bid may actually prove counter-productive. Not only are Pool bound to reject it, having previously declared they would only countenance the striker's sale at £15m, but 'The Portsmouth bid should flush out other clubs' - namely, Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Liverpool will then hope that a bidding war is declared. Or, as The Independent puts it, 'Once Liverpool have more than one bid, then they will have a more realistic view of the market for him and tailor their own budget accordingly.'

i think all dun like.

£9m? SERIOUSLY?

Liverpool fans might have hoped that, with signing the likes of Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel last summer, Rafa Benitez had got over his infuriating habit of signing 7/10, quite-good-but-really-not-good-enough players.

Well bad news kids, because The Daily Mirror claims that not only are Liverpool in the hunt for James Milner, they might have to pay £9million for the man who couldn't get a game for Newcastle at times last season.

However, The Daily Star is slightly more realistic, claiming any deal would be worth £7million and Danny Guthrie.

While Milner is a decent enough player, is he really the man that will make the big difference for Liverpool?
