Did u guys see we have a serious problem here ?? we will not EPL at all.

Soccer is about scoring. Strikers are there to score and of midfielder also score..then it boost the chance to be a champion.

But our strikers goal ratio are really low. U can look at the stat last season.

PLaying against TNS, and we have to rely on Gerrard to score 3 goals. Wa liao...are strikers busy doing hand shake with the fans ??

This was what I comment last week after the 1st leg.

Now again I make the similiar comment.

Again such a week team...we played 4 strikers in 2 matches..Only Cisse able to slot in 1 soft goal...

and we have to rely one single player to score 5 out of 6 goals...and he is not even a striker..

striking department is sleeping the whole game or what ?

we have more than 50 games to play this season. When we rest Gerrard...wonder how could CIsse, Morientes and Crouch take up the responsbility of scoring ???

Some big name players seem to turn lousy at Liverpool. Maybe its Houllier's style.

yes..u are right..Big name ie...Diouf and Cheyrou (new Zidane) turn into lousy player in Houllier style..

But Houllier style also turn small name like Gerrard (Houllier took him out from academy), Hyypia, Baros (never heard of him to a Euro2004 Golden Boot), Heskey (from non England squad player to win FA, League, SUper, Uefa and scored in World Cup), Riise, Hamman(dun tell me everyone here know where he exactly played before we snapped him 8m from Newcastle)...etc. into BIG name, not to mention our CL final hero-Dudek.

We all know that gerrard damn good with Liverpool..but when he was not playing in the away game until he was sub in.....the team was not performing at the same level.

I dunno. I think most of coaches won't say the team is not balanced after 2 matches. if you look at the other 2 friendlies, the strikers are scoring. They are alternating, one match strikers scored, next match gerrard scored. If there's anything to worry about, it is why the other midfielders are not scoring.

Why friendly not counted? If you look at the starting line up against TNS, we have youngsters playing, not the strongest first XI playing. Like that TNS match cannot be counted also mah

Check out the FA stats...number of goals scored. Friendly is really not taken into account...

There is no hard and fixed rule to conclude that what is the ratio of goal scored between striker/non striker is considered balanced.

So..opinion is still debatable.

I would say that Rafa reckon the team is not balanced. Thus, he need to enhance the striker department...that;s why he signed Crouch.

OK..now deal done is done. Let hope we can play Crouch from a nowhere to somewhere, just like we sign heskey (non Enland sqaud player) and heskey proceed to win couple of medal, scored against germany 5-1 thrash and scored in the World Cup and assist Owen goal to score against the eventually World Cup Champion Brazil.

Now we have to work on - purchase of another CD, and get the buyer for Dudek and baros to get some Vitamin M.

Keeper, Defender - did a good job. did not concede any goal both games
Midfielder - did a good job ...the midfield depart assist and scored 5 goals out of 6.
Sriker - did little job..only score 1 of out 6 goals..

all 5 goals scored by gerrard.. so i wouldnt say midfield did a good job. If scored by 2-3 different midfielders then different ;p

U compare Crouch with Koeller as Crouch can deliver that kinda of service for Baros to score..??? If I were Koellr..i think u are humiliating me..

Koeller play very smart. he take all the cross and challenge for the ball...he take on tackle and always make himiself the targeted man. and he feed the ball to the other striker...baros to score.. He had been doing for this for the last few years..where baros always score for Czech.

We all know what a player Crouch was , last season with Soton. he does not play much as this style at Soton..he mostly receive the ball rather than feeding others player.
He is tall..but I dun see him is a good header.

anyway...deal is done..No point look at what he could/could not for Soton last season...let hope that he worth the 7m price tag...and play up to the expectation.

Hamann played for Bayern leh...and is full fledge international before joining Newcastle... not exactly unknown...Even Hyypia, Riise and Baros are regular internationals when they were signed by Houllier. We don';t know doesn';t mean Arsene, Alex and Houllier don't know since we dun watch all international matches, french league, spanish league etc and they have scouts to do that.

Gerrard, when Houllier promoted him to 1st team, is similar to Welsh now. Established in reserves and U21 but not yet in Liverpool 1st team so also not exactly because Houllier give him chance lah...In fact, i think Roy Evans played him 1st... but Gerrard got sent off on his debut as RB? then back to reserves!

As for Heskey, he already win 2 league cup with Leicester before Houllier sign him. You can say that he piggyback on his partnership with Owen into the England squad and not so much on his own....

Dun worry lah... i think u have underrated Crouch... Based on what i see, he got very good touch and at 2m, if he;s lousy at headers, he wouldn't have scored 16 goals in 33 appearances (incl 9 sub appearance)...
