gerrard has 2 years remaining for his current contract.

if he sign an extension contract , then even if he wants to leave after that, he will be 30.

he is at his prime now...definately we want him to play for us.

who knows what will happen when he turn 30 ?

he has already shown us what he can do on the field. if he is not the best.. then who is?

Rafa has probably been building the team around him. If we sell him... then RB got to rebuild... the money we get from selling him won't guarantee that we can get the able replacements...

On the field..he is the best player as of the current squad.

if we really lost Gerrard..the implication behinds;

1) we every season have to sell one of great/best player.. Do u see that it is a healthy club ?
2) we could not keep our local boys
3) not even our most die hard fans want to stay with us..How do u convince others LFC fans to stay with us ? might as well we become Chelski fans
4) not even our captain think that he is worth to lead the team anymroe..where is the confidence of the other player to think that there is a hope to stay put with the remaining squad ?
5) fail to keep the players we want...and how are u going to attract good players joining us ??
6) that also send a message to the academic players..train hard, play good football and one day u can leave Liverpool for better prospect.

Eventhough it is nothing if we lose a player..but if losing Gerrard, there are more negative implication behind.

And what I comment above is part of what Mark Lawrenson worries about.

i am still in shock. but i really wonder if this is the best thing. if gerrard is really undecided, this could be even more disruptive to the team than him leaving now. anyway, i really hope i was wrong about him and that he really loves the club enough to want to stay.
i just wonder what happens if we win nothing by end of next season. if he leaves cos we are doing badly, i guess i cannot blame him ( as long as it is not about money). but this kind of drama is too disruptive and is bad for the team.
what do you people think about the current team,with gerrard or not? at first glance, i think we look about even with the team last season. haven't really seen any new players who can add the extra ummph to the side, not even zenden.

and I believe there is a huge misunderstanding between LFC managament - Rick Parry and Gerrard.

at the end...2 of them are sincerely apologized to each other..

We could not really know the scenario behind..but not we only want him to put down the pen to extend the contract.

If any delay..who knows he migth change his mind nect month again.

If he was really at this best..he would not be playing behind heskey and Owen. He would be 1st choice striker.

Remember why he is named God..at this best...he scored from every corner. A hattrick against arsenal within 5 min....At his best..he is far more a better than 2000/2001 owen.

He's not 1st choice mainly because Owen and Heskey combination is working better than Owen/Fowler or Fowler/Heskey combination. Moreover, with Owen being an England regular and threatening to quit liverpool if no regular 1st team football (rem all his complains when he starts the FA Cup final on bench?)

Sometimes, very good player can still be unwanted by the team.. Bellamy for one. He's in his prime right? But unwanted because of disciplinary problem. Saviola is another example. I do not think why Barca would rather keep an old Larsson than a young and hungry Saviola... Don't you think Saviola is a better player than Larsson NOW?

A lot of times, players are sold because the manager thinks that they could use the moeny for other players... Fowler, if he's not at his prime (prime is different from peak), can command 11m, so why should Houllier not sell then? Esp since he can use the 11m to buy.... Diouf!
