I think the issue is not whether rules changed or not but rather if it changes retrospectively. Imagine say liverpool finishes 4th, lose CL final. Ac finishes 5th and they say give italy 5 spots so AC can defend title. As a result, top 3 from england qualify. You think thats fair? no right?

anything in Liverpoool favour is considered fair... :bsmilie:

Who told u that..there MUST be another team in the expense for Liverpool to play in CL next season...?

there can be a solution ie one match play off for Liverpool in the qualifying round.

If UEFA agreed to let Liverpool to play CL...I believe they can work out a fair solution...but at this time...UEFA is talkok like "it is too late"...kinda oh bullsheet.

f the rulez! Let's win the EPL, FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup next season!

they will most prob let Liverpool into the CL League la. its afterall, the Champions' League and Liverpool's the Champion!

its $$££ they want and they are all businessmen. this is a great opportunity for them to cash in on the milkcows that are LIVERPOOL fans!:bsmilie:

i believe it would be good for the sports too. Liverpool is more decent than most other teams in the CL League.

Quoted from the European Champion Manager - Rafa

"common sense must prevail and that Liverpool must be allowed to defend their title next season and compete in the Champions League. "

U can read the full article here.

Liverpool deserve the spot just as much, if not more.

of course, we're the champs. but when the season started, it was stated in no uncertain terms that the top 4 teams in the EPL will go into the CL. and to that end, everton fought they hearts out and made it. can we fairly say now that they cannot go to the CL. that is totally unfair.
LFC should play in the CL, not questions about it. but our fate now lies in the politicians in eufa and the fa to make a compromise. our work on the field is done and boy did the lads do a great job. now we can only pray.

logically, liverpool should be in because:
1) we're the champs
2) we have a huge fanbase so can definitely pull in the TV money
3) like it or not, more neutrals are gonna watch liverpool than everton play

personally, i think the idea that world cup winners are not guaranteed a place but the hosts are is ridiculous.

transfer market pretty busy with rumours now. am hoping we get some good players and build a good team for the next season. also, hope some of the young players can make their marks too

I believe this is what UEFA said in the 1st place. "We cannot tell the smaller FAs that they will have 1 CL place less just for Liverpool to compete." I remember reading a sentence similar to this.

I also read that if Liverpool are allowed into CL. They need not play qualifying rounds because of their involvement in the UEFA Super Cup.

Actually, the English FA is very clever. They push everything to UEFA. :sweatsm: They need not make the difficult decision of excluding Everton or Liverpool. Simply insist UEFA give England 5 spots. :bsmilie: They managed to put UEFA into a spot and took advantage of the rules.

Baros dropped our cup! :bsmilie:

just media gossip but strong rumours about crouch and reina
http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/mediawatch/drilldown/MW8295050603-1441.htm

am kinda wishing we take a look at routledge still. CP has been relegated so maybe we can get him on the cheap. would be a nice back-up.

i really wonder what would have been if heskey had not been sold to birmingham before rafa came in. rafa seems to favour strong targetmen and he may just have been the man to remind our 11mil man how to score goals.

dudek dun wanna leave the club!!!!

now we got 4 GKs!!
kirkland(he's still around?)dudek, carson and soon to arrive Reina.

we should be selling Kirkland and Dudek. its time.

Wonder how will he do in the premier league. a lot of supposely good player tend not to settle very well in the EPL, due to the faster pace and more physical style of playing.

Plus...our midfield seems to be packed with small size players..the only 2 guy with some physical presence seems to be Gerrard and Hamman. Gracia don't seem to settle very well after 1 season..he tends to do better in european matches, against contential teams. Xabi makes up for his slightly smaller frame with his aggressive tackling, that's the way to go haha

LOLz

Think he cannot get over his love affair with Morienties. :sweatsm: Both of them are made for each other.

take raul for 2 mil and trade them nunez :bsmilie:
he could be a great player but i worry that his ego too big, may be bad for the club.
would like to see rosicky in the side actually. he tougher than aimar and i think he can slot in the midfield well. aimar is one of my fave players but i wonder if he can cope with the physical side of the EPL.

for me, crouch (or kuyt), rosicky and millito would be good investments, with a couple of good wingers if we can afford it.maybe can sell some players and bring in someone like vincente on the left but definitely need someone on the right (i stil like deisler. he's back and would be relatively cheap cos he had not played much. seemed to have recovered from his psychological issues though).
fullbacks could be good too if we can scrape up the cash.

Again....me the stats king come in with some numbers.

All competition in 2004/2005

Liverpool scored 75 goals in total. Strikers (Baros, Cisse, Mellor, Pongolle, Moreintes) scored only 30 of them. Less than 50% of the total goal scored. it is an unhealthy situation.

another typical exmaple...striker scored 0 in the Ac Milan Final.

The striker department is weakest link in the whole season (besides of Josemi and Pelle)

We have to enhance the midfielder by 1 or 2.....but personally I think the most important is to get a striker who can consistently give us 20 goals a season, just like what Ian Rush, Fowler, Owen did for us.

Will see whether Cisse and Morientes can be our lethal next season....

Somehow I feel Morientes suffers playing as a lone striker upfront - he used to playing deeper at Real, with Raul playing off him. Baros had this problem too. He needs someone to play off, eg. Jan Koller in the Czech national team.

Who know they might form a decent partnership if Liverpool ever plays 2 striker

At the beginning of the season...Rafa played 2 strikers for almost more than 10 matches. Baros to partner with Cisse. That was not fruitful at all. So many occasion u could see Cisse was so tulan about Baros took everthing by himself..and not to release the ball to Cisse where Cisse was clearly having a better position to try on goal.

I am sure Rafa will work very hard on striker department during this summer.

why would that be unhealthy?
