Crouch scored from an easy header when Carra is CD... how often you see that in EPL or even last season...? This shows that at least he shd be quite good in the air...even carra and rafa agrees

Crouch scored from the easy header ..that is the result where u had Pelle standing to watch the game rather than playing as CD. Carra was in between 2 Soton...how can he mark 2 poeple at the sametime..provided that he is signigicant shorter than Crouch.

Watch ESPN just now...last season Crouch 6 goals from header...Not bad.

Not when u read on the comment of ESPN sports center on him...then u might have a bad feeling that Liverpool must be joker to spend 7m on Crouch..

again..let see how much he can do for us..

btw..zhapchit...I am waiting the numbers from u ley..

how many goals Crouch can score in a season to be considered ;
1) flop
2) ok player
3) good

so we can come back on this issue end of this season.

(friendly and reserve dun take into account

I think, for a top EPL striker playing for a top team he must score in a season:

1) 0-9 goals = flop
2) 10-15 = ok player <---------------- Ok season for most strikers.
3) 16-20 = good <-------------------- most strikers will be happy with this kinda haul.
4) 21-25 = excellent <---------------- realistic target for top strikers like Henry and RVN.
5) 26-30 = goal king
6) 30 and above = god

Of cause, injuries, 1st team chances and the strengh and quality of his team must be taken into account. One cannot expect Crouch to play 20 matches and score 20 goals.

it depends on how many games he play.. how many minutes he play also

Frankly and sersiously..I dun think this a "standard" way to judge.

Look at how Golden Boot is being awarded. To the player who score most goals....not to the player who has the highest number of goal per games/minutes played.

I can understand each has their personal preference to rate...but then when 2 people come to dispute..a more WOrld Standard way should be used. Even FA, UEFA, FIFA is counting on total numbers of goal scored...not goals per games played or per min played.

I am more towardes football than photographing. May I ask that is the Photo Contest is awarded the best pic, or judged by best pic per total pic taken/per shutter count ?

There's a big difference in your agruement lah... brother.

For photography, a single photo can make a photogs famous.... however, it can also be a coincidence. YOu dun see people hailing a 1-time winner as a renowned photogs...

As for Golden Boot, i think it's quite fair as they have a "factor" in their computation. For example, EPL & the other 2 big leagues (Italian and Spanish) have "1" while say Portugese, Scottish league have a factor of say "1.5". So, if say, Henry score 30 goals,, it will be taken as 30 goals. However, for John Hartson (Celtic) or say one of the strikers from Porto, they need to score 45goals to be tie with Henry. So it's quite fair given that they consider the difficulty in each league.

To judge a striker, sometimes, goals is the easy way out. for example, you can argue that Owen is the best striker in REAL because of his strike rate. But i will say Ronaldo is the best because he does all the hard work before Owen comes on when people all tired.

I think afbug's goal ratio is about right. Of course, you dun expect Crouch to score 30 goals if he only comes on as subs and compare against Henry who plays every game.

Yes the golden boot is awarded to the player who can score the most goals in the entire competition. It doesnt matter how many minutes you play. If you play more, you have more chances to score.

But now we are going to judge his scoring capability. If you are on the field for 10 minutes versus you on the field for 90 minutes, which do you think will have more chance to score?
Someone playing for 90 minutes, may have more than 10 chances and he might score 2 of them. Another person getting 10 minutes of play only, he might get 2-3 chances to score. He may or may not score.

You can't compare photography here with football anyway. Photography is judged by a panel of judges. If you change the panel, you might get a different winner.

If you really insist on a figure, then i would say

1) flop 0-5 goals
2) ok player 6-10 players
3) good > 10

This is based on the assumption that he gets to play at least 25-30 full matches.

by the way... Robinho is heading to Real? poor mickey...

Well, he deserved it! he opt to leave liverpool when he is 1st choice to be 3rd or 4th choice striker in REAL.... purely down to greed. Any international striker with aspiration will not do that to their career. I hope England will have a new strike partner for Rooney... Maybe Crouch?

that sounds more reasonable for a striker at 7m.

of course, injuries will waive the above rule since he is not able to play.

But one is not injured...then why he is on the bench and not playing ? simply because he is not good enough for the manager to play him...

btw...Afbug..accoring to your 0-9 is a flop..then I can work out this...Smith had been 9 out of 10 season a flop player...and that cost MU 10m.

Actually....I am more than happy if Crouch can score 15-18 goals for us. Let wait and see.

With all the arguement. reasons given by u and nemesis, I will rather follow FA , UEFA, FIFA on their more "professional" way to judge the golden boot award, that is the total numbers of goal scored...and not goal/per game or per min play.

btw...to score 6-10 goals a season is ok player..then why would u say Diouf is a flop ??

Quoted from LFC web "Originally signed as a striker but played on the right wing, Diouf scored just six goals in his first season including three in the Worthington Cup."

U see...6 goal wat ? why a flop player ??

when mickey left LFC..I had since cursed on until today....seems that my blac magic on him did have an impact on him....If REal is playing against LFC...hahaa...guess what curse I will put on him...

U very selfish..u want Cisse to score just because he is in your FM2005 ??

I want Cisse to score 35 to help us to win the first EPL tittle.

According to FIFA world rankings as of today , USA is at 6th and England at 8th.

If England to play Rooney and Crouch as their main striker..I can see that England to fall out from 10th.

my morientes can't score much goals but when he scores, it's always described as a MAGICAL GOAL and ends up Goal of the Month. ha!

mickey mouse moving to man utd, that'll be the end of his house in Merseyside! i can see flames coming from his kitchen!!!:bsmilie:

i think he is happy man now. Remember when Micket left LFC..he said he wanted a new environement for a new challenge.

Now he is on the bench rather on the field. A new environment.

He is not anymore the club 1st striker..now could be the 4th striker. He has more challenge now.

U see...he get what he wanted..is not that great ? If I were him..I will be happy dancing..

i don;t think England can beat USA easily now. the US team have grown from strength to strength and is no longer a push-over.:)

*RESPECT!*

If smith played every match and he scores less than 9 goals, of course he's a flop. However, i would rate him as ok as he scored quite a few goals when come on subs and before rooney arrive and RVR returns.

1st choice will b ronaldo with robinho... raul most prob 3rd or supporting striker. then comes mickey mouse. wow...

but once he goes to man utd, alan smith will be surplus and might be moulded into an anchorman ala roy keane. :sweatsm:
