FIFA's ranking is flawed. Its been discuess and debated before US is ranked above England. But they think its correct. FIFA, UEFA, AFC are not perfect, sure make mistakes. The best ranking system are by the bookmarkers. :bsmilie:

bookmakers also not perfect.... for example, odds for Man U and Liverpool matches in SG is usually lousy compared with overseas as they are well-supported here... odds changes depends on the amt of bet... a form of risk mgt by Singapore Pools...

With all the arguement. reasons given by u and nemesis, I will rather follow FA , UEFA, FIFA on their more "professional" way to judge the golden boot award, that is the total numbers of goal scored...and not goal/per game or per min play.

btw...to score 6-10 goals a season is ok player..then why would u say Diouf is a flop ??

Quoted from LFC web "Originally signed as a striker but played on the right wing, Diouf scored just six goals in his first season including three in the Worthington Cup."

U see...6 goal wat ? why a flop player ??
how much did Diouf cost us? did Crouch win 2 EOPY? has he played in World Cup? has he danced around the likes of Zidanes n Desaily...? Diouf was bought in mind as a main player.. Crouch is a player to provide 'option'.. that's where there are differences

issued closed..we will come to it end of the season...for me...if he can score 12-18..goals..he had played up to his standard. We did not expect him to score 20 goals anyway. and antyhing less than 12 is considered a flop to me.

u are right..Diouf was bought as main player. Crouch is bought as to provided options. He may not be necessary good..but he can give us option.

If playing against those teams who closed the door...we did not have much option to attack. With Crouch..we can bump the to the air and hope he can do a header.

nothing is perfect. Not even Albert Eistein has the perfect brain. But I would reckon Eistein is smarter than me and u most of the time..just like I would reckon / respect FIFA/FA/UEFA decision more than any one who is in the finance, engineering, IT industry.

Dun use SG pool's odds as a ref. Their odds damn kiasu kaisi. Those brits are better. What i meant was odds for outright winner of a competition, eg CL etc etc. From the opening odds, one can tell who is the fav down to the least likely winner. All in order and rank.

Each to his one. I'm not asking you to believe me. I'm just stating my views.

liverpool 4-3 olim
Impressive performances by debutant Crouch and Baros. If they both can keep up that kind of performance throughout the season, alot of people will have to eat their words.

Seems that the strikers have formed the habit of scoring. The midfielders(other than gerrard) will have to work hard and contribute some too.

Now we'll wait for Rafa to bring in the defenders, i believe we won't finish below 4th again this season, no more 30pts behind the leader.

If this is TRUE and works, I will be a damn happy man..
I must say what the writer said may be quite true... esp on La Tallec.. he's only 20 and still got potential...

I am pretty sure we will close the gap... Quite hopeful that we can finished 4th... with a bit of luck and more consistency, prob top 3

of course...We all Hope every single player we buy would turn into real gem. Let say what happen to us on 13 aug against Boro. This coming match, Zenden ( who scored against us) is with us..and we are without Pelle.. Gerrard might score another wonder goal us...

My prediction....Liverpool the best finish 2nd, only if we get another CD. Woud see them finish between 2rd to 4th. And some more signings during Jan transfer window.

I will be quite happy if we can sign a CD (Upson or Milito will be good) and maybe Figo (cannot get also ok).

I dun think we need to sign anymore players other than CD. Too many new people means longer time to gel and intergrate and not good for team morale also.

I rather we try and make the current team work and buy better players next seasons. Mid-season buys usually are not that great and out of necessity....

Agree that now the most priorityis to get CD. WE can;t expect Hyypia and Carra to play 50 games a season.....

I think we will see some players in Jan and get the $ to get in 1 to 2 more fridge players.

Btw..we still have some work to do..to get rid of Dudel and Baros to finance the purchase of CD..to get of rid Josemi..who would easily cost us 6-9 goals conceded in a seasons.

Not really necessary to get rid of Dudek and Baros... like you have said... you also not sure if Crouch is the one and we also not sure abt Reina as i dun follow spanish league. Extra striker and GK no harm esp since you need covers for injuries and Kirkland is out on loan for whole year.

Josemi.. shd be gone together with Nunez.

The review on Whitbread performance seems to be encouraging... i hope he plays at least 20 games this year....

In football point of view...We dun need to get rid of them.. The more good player in the squad the merrier. However..I look at this on overall football management, including the acc.

We had the record lost when we fired Houllier and gangs. More than 20m loss. Last year we spent some more on buying players than we got back from selling....The 30m award from Champion League would just be sufficent to cover the record loss and last season spending.

And this season we had spent 20m...(recover appox 5m from selling). and we are prepared to spend another 8m on a good CD. We need to sell Dudek and Baros (2m and 6m respectively)..to finance that...Hopefully proceed to CL group stage can cover us around 5m.

Really ??? I am going to buy a bottle of wine to celebrate. Hurrayyy....

I did follow LFC last season League Cup performance where Rafa played with mostly youngster and reserve player at the beginning. This tall guy Whitebread had since impressed me a lot...Especially the game we beat Boro 2-0.

If u remember the previous Liverpool thread on CS, I had mentioned many times about giving a chance for Whitebread to play as to study under Hyypia. He is tall and and he does header like Hyypia, and he tackle and close down the opponent like hencoz, slide here slide there to block shot. Of course, he need more games under him as to learn to see the attack flow as to intercept like Hamann.

ya lah...games for CD are rare to come by though as risky to put in an inexperienced CD. This season, with no cover for hyypia and Carra.. i think he will play a few games in EPL... maybe against the relegation teams?

against relegation team ?? pls dun mention that...last season we lost to the eventually relegated team Soton. because Rafa had humilated us...that;s why Rafa signed him.

Villa 5m had been turned donw. LFC put a price tag of 7m for Baros. Against Olim, there is not much motivation for him to work so hard...(he was more efficient in the friendly than against Milan in the CL final)..but then Rafa had been tulan enough that no matter Baros could do now..Rafa is gonna sell him.

Nunez is on the way to Celta Vigo....When is Josemi turn ? I can;t wait any longer.

Nunez seems to be set... Josemi i am not sure.. is he still injured?

Rafa claims that he may still play Baros... only buyer seems like Aston Villa, which don't really care if Baros play in CL also since they are not in Europe...

ANy live telecast tomorrow?

I hope he will keep Baros, unless he needs the money to finance purchase of CD.

Yes there will be live telecast.

nice little win.3-1 for us. just need to avoid being overconfident and keep it tight at home.
looks like baros is really being let go. he didn't play again. he's one of those players i'm not sure about. he's a good gaolscorer and for that i think we should keep him. at the same time, he seemed irritatingly unwilling to change his head down and chiong style of play. i think his refusal to move now is probably mainly because only the smaller teams had been interested.
