All over now..............
Kudos to Arsenal.
They took their chances better. As much as we can argue we had more possession and many shots on target, how many were clear cut chances and how many were on target? Arsenal used the ball better.

Hope the lads learn from this. I knew it was bad news when gerrard said arsenal should fear us. Never assume a job is done till you actually hear the final whistle. Reputation wins no matches.
Hope now the team would put their nose down and work hard and build from this. We can do it....

:sweatsm: here goes. another game!

goin bonkers over losing too many of them.:bsmilie:

Arsenal certainly made the best of their chances.

Somehow, I felt that Dudek has lost his touch. His sense of positioning is also a bit off.

Both our strikers were also having an off day. Hardly saw Kuyt threatening during in the first half.

Maybe the lads can now channel all their attention towards challenging for the premiership title.

Dudek is partially at fault, i cant help but feels that Reina could probably saved at least 1 of the 3 shots...

For 2nd goal, rightly pointed out by commentator, gerrard shd ahve his tackle in be4 Rosicky can score...

We played reasonably well but Arsenal took their chances well and a bit lucky in terms of goal-scoring.

Hopefully we can kiss their A$$ in LC and go on and win it!

The scoreline flattered arsenal a bit. 2-1 was perhaps fairer, although we certainly could have won it if we could have kept a clean sheet.
We didn't really create too many chances and therein lay the problem. We have a good team, solid and with some top class players in several positions. But we lack cohesion and creativity in attack, and more importantly, we lacked "class". That is the difference between a team that can challenge and win some trophies some of the time and a team that can consistently challenge for the top in every tournament. Hope rafa and the coaching staff can put it right by working more with the team and perhaps adding some quality signings.

think we really need a goalscorer.

:D

Fly Emirates !

I think Wenger should adopt the rotation system. Emmanuel Adebayor is far better than Van Persie.. I hope wenger notice that and stop playing with the idea of cloning a 2nd bergkamp in him.

Agreed. Sell peter crouch buy darrent bent. :bsmilie:

IMHO, i felt its a mistake to sell Milan Baros...

actually, i still think we should have given mellor more chances. that kid was a natural goalscorer. the problem was that he couldn't do much else on the pitch when he did play. But i'd think at least having him on the bench would have been a nice option.

Frankly, i think rafa has a thing for hardworking forwards. kuyt, crouch, bellamy or even his strikers at valencia like mista all work hard, lead the line but also drop back and get involved a lot. but none were natural finishers. Of them, i'd say bellamy is the best and he's no owen either. that's probably why fowler didn't get many opportunities this season either as he is not that kind of player. get him the ball in the box and watch him work.

frankly, either one of the 3 regular forwards would be brilliant if we stick a natural finisher next to them. i think crouch/kuyt and owen/defoe/villa could terrorise defences. want a change? put in bellamy and watch him hug the channels and play in crosses for someone like klose to pounce on. dream dream....

to be realistic, i honestly believe we could do worse than to do a Henry with Luis Garcia. Here is someone who really can finish. good positioning in the box, cool finish and good technique, even in the air. and his tendency to lose balls would be less risky if he's leading the line than if he was running around in the midfield. and the tendency to the the unexpected is often what unhinge defenses. I really think garcia could net us 20 goals if we put him in front next to kuyt or crouch.

Luis Garcia is good.

Luis Garcia is good.

For the past seasons, I seen him lose possession far too often and missed easy chances..

Too easy fall to the ground...

Most players would have missed chances before, no matter how easy. but his conversion rate is probably higher than any striker who had played in the red shirt since owen and even owen missed lots of sitters....

Garcia is one of those players you love and hate at the same time. I always cringe when i see him in the line-up as i worry about him losing the ball and causing the defence problems. but if he gets he ball in the final third, your heart leaps because he is one of those who could make something happen.

as i mentioned, him losing the ball in the upper third of the field playing as a striker is likely to be less devastating than him losing it playing in the midfield. in fact, being lightweight and giving the ball away are weaknesses most forgivable in forwards, rarely in midfielders and a no-no in defenders. don't even bother with garcia playing behind a forward, stick him right in front and have kuyt or crouch support him. maybe it'd work, maybe it may not. but i think it's worth a try.

I have never seen luis garcia played a good 90min match.. imho, he's best suitable to come on as a sub like solkjaer..

I think benetiz shd have started gonzalez on left, with gonzalez and pennent, we have lots of width..

Stirker wise, i dont think Crouch starting is a bad move.. he did well in previous match... also, he wins almost all balls in the air. only thing is his link up with kuyt is no good yet.

i oso seen him scoring some goals that bring us victory.

and the 'goal' that never was!! hehehe :bsmilie:

Not sure how many of u caught this morning match.. 6-3 to Arsenal.

Rafa really blew it by naming such a weak starting 11. Kudos to the young gunners who shows they have the quality and teamwork to play like their senior players. In truth, even in those young players, many are established players like cesc, Toure etc

It's time for Rafa to consider what he wants to do with the team. His selection and rotation is indeed questionable since this is one Cup that we have an excellent chance.. 3 matches away if we had beaten Arsenal.
