"unobtainium" hahaha. Price shld be ard 19xx

Haha. Oakley actually uses "Unobtainium" quite frequently in their marketing.

To make sure the frame stays secure during sport competition, the nosepiece and stem sleeves are made of Oakley Unobtainium®. It’s a proprietary synthetic that actually increases grip with perspiration.

Wow didn't realise it was a registered word by Oakley.

Any one have any idea what the stable price range of this lens is now it's been out for a few months? Thanks

Approx $1900. Stocks generally low and u may have to preorder

Thanks....checking around...it seems $1900 is the standard.

So I dropped my guard in a moment of weakness...$1900 poorer, but very happy. Going for a low light walk now to test drive the Nocticron...

good choice! it's a purchase you won't regret!

No regrets already...love the clarity, and its actually not as big as I expected. Got an excellent deal on a gx7 body last week in BnS (3mths old 2 extra battery for 650) and the lens suits it perfectly.

got price drop boh or still around $1.8k to $1.9k ?

This lens is still too high for me. I was able to convince myself to get the 75mm but cannot convince myself to get this lens unless I get a bonus :D

the thing is this, for this lens u dont have to stand so far from the subject and still gets very good bokeh. while the 75mm need to stand too far for my own taste and very limited uses for it.

I usually bring both my 75 and 42.5.. Both lenses may be huge, but they fit my herringbone bag nicely. When outdoors with lots of space (like Hort Park, botanic gardens, gardens by the bay etc etc) or at any chance with lots of space, I'll use the 75 as priority.. Really prefer that compressed look that 75 can give. Only when indoors or low light or street photog (like along orchard rd) then I will change to my Nocticron.

Of course 75 has its difficulty too, like for a full body shot, you really gotta stand damn bl**dy far away, and if you wanna be in the shot, you gotta prepare to run... but the results are worth it!

Hmm.. 42.5mm shows quite a crop view for street photography. Personally I prefer 25mm for that to show more of the environment, but that's ur style. [emoji4]

lol thats because my definition of "street photography" is taking a pic of my gf walking, posing, etc etc, in the streets or in the mall and she is not camera shy, but camera shy in public, so the distance away when I take her pic with the 42.5mm is comfortable enough for her, and it's not that far really.. 2m at most? and with the 1.2 aperture, i can finally say "when she's near, everybody else seems far away"lol

with 25mm or wider lenses, a lot of smartphones or PnS cameras are using or start with this focal length, it's wayy too common and a lot of amateurs tends to choose the widest FL of any zoom lens to shoot portrait (and I'm guilty of being one of them before), trying to get the subject + wide surrounding background, not understanding framing, so I never figured out how come my pics don't look as nice as those taken by pros, no matter how hard I try to compose the frame or how expensive my wide angle lenses were. I used to invest a lot on expensive wide angles, like the 12mm f2, 15mm f1.7, 17mm f1.8

Only recently did I realised it's everything to do with the compression effect of higher FLs, so I sold all my wide angle lenses lol
