[ Lens ] Olympus Announces the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f1.8

Can someone pls enlighten me how does this lens compare to the 25 1.4?

That example is not very sharp indeed. The QC is quite very disappointing to say the least.

Nowadays, I give the lens a physical run over for a good 10-15mins, all over before I make payments .... any lens !

Then another 10-15mins of shooting and pixel peeping .....

Saves a lot of hassle for when after the fact

The lens should be available at your favourite camera shops today (going to collect mine later today), and as said before, it is below $700.

Stock is in...

I do agree to some extend for the comments from the taiwan site... I look at the 17mm build, its not as good compared to the 12mm and 45mm. You could see like its being push out on the rush to beat xmas sales...Maybe those getting later might have better quality after if Oly sees these feedback...

Hopefully the pictures are ok when got time to play with it later...

Not happy with the quality, dun buy. Speak with action.

I bought it since i like the focal length. Too old to peek any pixels... Pictures look good on ipad to me :)

Same here, I like the lumix 14mm focus length but Olympus prime to me always very nice image

Olympus 17mm f1.8 ,min focus distance

zoom in, looks bloody sharp

nice rolex, looks genuine

Definitely genuine Sea Dweller. :)

Mind if i ask, how much did you pay for it? How's the construction quality of the lens?

SLR was selling it 617 yesterday but stock sold out before I got there

Considering the Panny 20/1.7 now seeling for $499, This Oly 17/1.8 at $617 is 23.6% more expensive. I'm wondering if i should get the 20/1.7 instead. Or top up a bit and get the PL25/1.4
