Looks big, I was hoping for a pancake like the P20mm

Slightly shorter and fatter than the Oly 12mm f2, it seems. Definitely smaller than the PL25.

looks beautiful to me hehe..... another prime to buy...

wow my fav FL.

Seems like all i need is 12-35 and this lens =p

That lens looks as fat as the 12-35, just stumpier.

Hope it's not too heavy.

Def smaller than 12-35.

the diameter is 46mm, same as 12mm f2.0 so practically should be around same weight as 12mm.

dunno how is the bokeh on this lens... hopefully it is good...

I was hoping they would keep the 17mm F2.8's dimensions... At least they sould release a black one at the same time for the same price.

Physically impossible since its a larger aperture. Something has to give.

Yah but a black 17 2.8 is nice. But i wld prefer if it were optically more competent.

I don't have any complaints. I like the lens. Fast focussing on the E-M5 and sharp enough for my needs.
Not sure if it would be impossible. The 20/1.7 is also pretty slim. Sure, it's slightly more tele but I can't imagine it is impossible.

if its coming out by the end of this year then i would save for this...thought of getting the 60mm macro but see more use for this
of course i would expect it to be 2-300 more than the 60mm
i like the fact that it has a uniform body shape unlike the 12mm (sorry personal opinions haha)

Olympus said already they will launch it in the first half of 2013. So far it's just a development announcement.

You said that you would prefer the 17 1.8 to be the same size as 17 2.8. Rationally, the 1.8 would not be able to be of the same size if you have to keep the optical quality and also the costs to a reasonable level. I trust that the Olympus lens engineers have managed to come up with something that is a good compromise in terms of IQ, costs, engineering capability, and size. These people think lenses day in and day out...have to give them some credit.
