Lens Clollection

contentment is a virtue. :)

Frankly, the advice provided here from fellow forumers are really good especially discovering what you would truly wants from your photography pursue and get what's needed.

With regards to you 7D meagre improvement, it does not lies with how many lenses you have. Your 7D should at least works well with the 150-500 comparatively to your other 2 as I would rate that lens better in IQ quality. That lens is not easy to use and takes some getting used to and I kind of like it but I find that it works much better on the 5D than 7D.

7D packs 18 megapixel into an APS-C sensor (5D got 21mp but on a full frame) and it's the highest pixel density DSLR today. This makes it really hungry for details and lenses easily becomes the bottle-neck. To optimise the 7D, you need premium lenses. Take 2 identical shots with both your Sigma at same focal length between 150 ~ 200mm at the same aperture using tripod to see what I meant.

Instead of just collecting lots of lenses, save up for really good ones. In this way, you will have to scale down your wish list considerably and it will entice you to put in more thoughts in making your choices in relation to your needs. In this way, you will end up with lens that are suited to your needs and able to optimise on your 7D.

Happy shooting in the meanwhile. ;)

I did try before i realised that my sigma 18-200mm IQ are much more better than the 150-500 most probably due to more glasses in 150-500mm. Trying to save up and sell my 150-500 to fund for 100-400 L for birding. Really enjoy shooting and will continue shooting. Really glad that i get to know clubsnap, i spent most of my time reading and reading threads. That my only source that i get can my questions answered. Thanks everyone!

I assumed that 18-200mm are mainly for travel and to get the exact lens for correct purpose is what people normally does. For instance, landscape=Wide angle/fish eye, portrait=20-70 f2.8/70-200 f2.8L etc. Birding=100-400/500/600 f2.8/f4L. But most bros here advice me to understand my gear and fully utilised my gear to its full potential before upgrading. I also understand that "we" should learn to be more self content as else i think we will never stop upgrading to latest model. :)

happy shooting !!!

Yeah, only recently took out my 18-200mm out for a walk after dumping in my dry cabinet for so long. The IQ for me its quite acceptable but i prefer the wide angle of my kit lens 18055 and IQ of my 55-250mm, problem is i sold it to fund for sigma 18-250 for is conveniences. Regretted.

LOL hilarious...Sorry maybe i should't term it "lens collection". Just curious why people kept so much lens for various purposes?

Hi bro/Sis, I am quite confused about decision which path to move. Well presently I only have 50 mm1.8, sigma 18-200 and sigma 150-500 for my 7D. My question now is wheneer I saw someone doing something different from what I'm doing I feel like trying. Hence, should I collect all kind of lens for different purpose. Let's say for instance like potrait, wide angle, fish eye, macro birding and night landscape? Or should I/we concentrate at 1 thing at a time. I'm not rich ,got to save up eat bread everyday to fund for lens. Secondly do you Guys collect different lens for different event/occasion/purpose too?

Ask urself, even if u did collect everything and money is not an issue, do u have the time to use them all?? ;)

TS seem lost... shoot more and discover what you want, it nearly impossible to buy all types of lens and utilize each of them fully...

shoot for another yr or so, and discover what you truly want... and not BBB ;)

alternatively, u can get one super duper expensive lens... your heart will be so pain and you will use this lens fully and perhaps exclusively ;p

Since TS enjoy bird photography so much, you should move toward that direction rather than the ideal of getting it all.

Actually equipments for bird photography is the most expensive if you sink deeper.:devil:

Welcome to the DARK side.... :bsmilie::bsmilie:

I am not into cars but the way I see my friend burn his money on his car and accessories, I certain do not think that camera equipment is expensive. He helped me feel better when my wife nags at me for spending so much on photography. I also use my friend as a shield when she does that. For example, he spends $1k+ on ONE tyre, that a whopping $4000++ on wheels alone. That can get me a canon 5d2!! Not to go on about the car seat, steering wheel, spoiler etc.
