How much deposit is required?
Did they committed a delivery date?
So you have to pay shipping cost + GST(when arrived in SG)?

No deposit required, they'll charge you when the item is ready to be shipped. They fulfill preordered on a first come first serve basis and i preordered right when they started accepting so hopefully i will be among the first or second batch. I'm shipping it within the US and will personally bring it back so I won't be hit by GST.

Thanks for the information and good luck!

HK is cheaper... Selling at 43K HKD... approximately 6.9K SGD... Cheers... I will be in HK tomm... Can check around the confirmed prices...

To Bro Thoth

You are REALLY lucky. Cos all items more than S$400 will have a GST levied by the customs.

Your shipping agent must have declared the value of your lens to be less than $400 when he shipped it to you form overseas.

Thus if the package is lost, you will only have a insurance coverage of S$400 for your cron which ail mean you claims will be no more than S$400.

So lucky you.

Actually, on d shipping form, d price is more than 2K Swiss Franc... I dunno why government so good let me off wif the GST... Thank God.. Lucky me...

Nothing new. Clothes and a number of consumer goods in Singapore are 20-100% more expensive than what they are overseas.

Yes yes. International warranty for Leica covers all countries. Even with grey sets. 6.9k is an awesome price.

How nice if Leica could incorporate the EVF into the OF window for the Type 240.
At a flip of a button the eyepiece provides information from Optical finder and Live view and vise versa.

However the EVF2 also provides user the choice of viewing camera from above by rotating the angle of view, this makes those low down wide angle shots and macro shots much easier.

Maybe something they would include in the M11 :P

Wow, you're really lucky! Saved a lot of $$$. I living in Aus now but moving to SG end of the year, I only found out about the SG$400 limit on GST! Almost every lens or body purchased online will kenna charged with GST.

Crazy lah, in Australia the limit is AU$1000 on all imports before GST is charged. I quickly bought a Leica M6 for KEH :for sub $1k :D

Yeah. Lucky me. Now in HK. Lens prices went up n lost d competitive edge on most lenses. Only Leica M-E here is selling 1k cheaper than in sg. Think only worth to get Leica stuff here due to international warranty coverage.

Anybody wanna buy M-E or M lenses? I'm checking out Leica boutiques later. Unless u want grey sets which is much cheaper. Give me a PM n I'll get bk to u. Cheers. Since I'm here anyway. I will only look out for brand new items as it's easier to deal. Tks.

From my understanding, if the camera or lens needs servicing back in the factory, you willl pay to pay the shipping and insurance charges for items purchased overseas. This was the policy when Leica was represented by the distributor. Since Leica has an office and service centre here, I am not sure if this still applies.

$6.9K is a very good price. There is someone advertising the ME for sale in CS for $7680!

I'd be very interested to see what this Belgian-made sensor can do at base ISO. I like using the M9 as a daylight reversal camera and if the new sensor can better the M9 at base ISO, then it will be very tempting for me. I almost always shoot in daylight these days with film anyways and hardly go beyond ISO400.
