L A O S - Luang Prabang

Here's another candid shot. I mentioned this MWC (Monk With Camera) in Richard's thread. Can't believe my timing so "chun" :bsmilie:

4408109451_48a2e7fc55.jpg

Shot him just as his own flash fired

I thought thought thought... then now I realised what was in my mind.
Ermmm... the MWC doesn't know how to use his DSLR leh.
He shoots like that at close quarter, some more full flash - he is going to get blown out pictures when he goes back to his temple and look at his laptop screen...
:bsmilie::bsmilie:

After that terrible Sunset shoot let's look at something Cute

Cheers

I think there is something wrong with all you Nikon fellows here...
Your cameras all got built in Unsharp Mask or something is it?
Darn good shot, brother! ;) I am impressed by the lines on the (grand)mother's face and of course the innocent look in the baby's eyes.

PS: the Unsharp Mask is in Photoshop.. just between us don't let the Canon people know :bsmilie:

This is brilliant! :-)

It is a great trip - especially for newbie like me - learn so much on this trip! Thanks everyone for being so nice and friendly, made the trip really fun! First time posting pictures here, hopefully it works.

Some photos of the photographers - dun get offended hor, anyone dun like to see his or her face in the pic, let me know and I'll remove the pic yah?

We must all do what we can, to help our fellow photographer take THAT shot.

Though sometimes it pays to go against the flow.

And like all Singapore residents, we know how to queue:

Hey, euterpe!
These are great 'Third party' shots, to quote Stevepow's words!
I didn't know you were sniping on some of us who were sniping on some of the others!
That's the fun about going for photoshoot trips like this.
Show us more of your pictures!
And get KH to scan her photos and post them up lah!

OK - less candid shots here.

This is my favourite shot - the sun setting at Pha Tat Luang. A young friend of mine did a on-the-spot literary criticism of the picture to say that while the tree generally represents life, this tree is lifeless because it is in shadow, but nonetheless, it is still reaching for life (represented by the sun), and the contrast and tension makes this picture intriguing. Me, I just think it is pretty.

Young monk running up the steps. I love the different shades of orange, which are brought out by the setting sun, with a nice contrast provided by the bag carried by the young monk.

KH and I were wandering around Luang Prabang by ourselves when we stumbled upon a temple with a beautiful garden in full bloom:

Do be so modest .. you are the Good Shooter

Look at this shot

4410763526_419e79fdba_b.jpg

That why you need to bring 2 cam .. one wide.. one tele

That means for your case
1dmk4 or 1Dsmk3 with 16-35 mk2
1dmk4 with 70-200 mk2

Hi limwhow,

You're being too modest to begin with.

Seems like everyone of us is zeroing on this Merc and I even did place 4D bet on '1298' for last Wed and yesterday

Probably this is the first time seeing a plate number begining with zero zero.
And it's yesterday 4D's first price .... heart pain ...argh...

Hi Richard,

Love this and its tack sharp

You should REALLY see the actual day actual scene in action.
Wah lau, those fellow all literally lined up one on top and behind each other because
at that point, then the sun is zhun zhun centred on the roof of the main door.
Very funny!

And zhun zhun on Richard's tummy while he was looking away:bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

Hey Lowlights, thank you for your C&C. I love the way you captured the sun.
Very nice, all big big, round round...:thumbsup:
May l know how you do it?

Quite simply
1) Zoom in to your lens limit
2) Shoot in Manual ... increase the shutter about 3000 (figure taken off the air, as shutter
speed depend on site situation) take a shot
3) check image if Sun is round and sharp.. good .. else increase shutter again.
But if Sun good and Silhouette is too dark then reduce shutter speed
A little bit of trail and error
4) Find a good spot, Take Aim, Get Focus .. Fire away
5) Try not to get yourself blind :bsmilie:

Important : For newbies that is reading this .. it's NOT A JOKE about aiming at the
SUN and getting BLIND.
Please be carefully.
Sorry if I am stating the obvious

Hi euterpe, I love the way you sniped at them. These bunch of people are so fantastic!
They are so fun-loving, easy-going, so down to earth, so friendly, so energetic, so forever young......:thumbsup::sweatsm:
It was a good trip. I must say, I enjoyed every bit of it esp with the group of masters.
Thanks to Adrian of Singapore Trekker. Well done!:thumbsup:

Yep, unfortunately I was too far away to take a shot without cropping - didn't have time to fix the aperture. boo.
