There's a lot of misinformation and FUD going around about the K-x AF points.
1. The K-x DOES have AF points. 11 of them, in fact
2. You CAN see the AF points in the view finder, there are markings in the VF that show you where the 11 AF points are
3. You CAN select AF point in AF-select mode, you have to do it via the LCD screen
4. You CAN see when your subject is in focus. The green hexagon appears in the VF and you will hear the familiar beep sound.
What you can't do is see in the VF which AF point is active.
1. In auto-AF mode, with AF point indicators you can see which AF point is auto-selected, but you can't see that with the K-x. Most people using auto-AF mode probably don't care though
2. In AF-select mode, you always select using the LCD. What I miss about the AF point indicator is that sometimes I use AF-select mode and forget to switch back to center-AF mode and then I get my focusing wrong. With my K10D the problem is obvious because the indicator will show the AF point off-center. With my K-x a couple of times I end up wondering why my focusing so screwed up then realized I forgot to switch back
hmmm one thing i notice is.. i was shooting some night scene, i couldnt not see the black AF markings... maybe my eyes not good at night... VF indicators also blurry..
hi felix thank u for your kind reply.. what is a dioter? sigh.. i got trembling hands... so when i zoom in with the 200m hor.. wah lau lol i use 1/100 or more loh.. no night shots for me le
you will see the subject in focus in the viewfinder as well as a green hexagon dot at the bottom of the viewfinder and a beep sound.
Hi felix, i cant see any green dot or hear any beep sound
May i know wats wrong?
Are you looking thru the viewfinder (VF)?
Should have sound as mine has. Check your settings
Yes im looking through the view finder but no green dot as mentioned....
So what should i set to? Occasionally will hear a beep sound.
Btw, do u know which mode should i use for taking night shots?
Thanks a lot, im a real NOOB...;p
Green hexagon dot only appears if your subject is in focus and followed by beep sound. The bottom row of your VF will have all the green coloured display
Yes i see the display info in the viewfinder,
but theres no green dot....i only can see the focus brackets....
Do i need to set something?
