hope to take off to JB or somewhere in malaysia for a day.... finally get to shoot street at leisure or whatever catches my fancy

in other news I'm going to try to make it a habit to shoot RAW and learn a good workflow for it.... you may laugh but I only very recently learned how to batch process... and I guess shooting in RAW encourages a bit more shutter discipline... can't spray as much as when I'm shooting JPEG on my current d300

in other other news.... I have a 1000 word essay due later today, monday 5pm.

You still can machine-gun it. You just need a larger-capacity CF card. :bsmilie:

psychedelic!

did some desaturation to show the pattern of the lotuses (are they lotuses?)

loosening up to do some messing around on raw & photoshop.

this shot and the previous 2 taken on ubin.

also, i've discovered the centalize button in the advance reply.

today I learnt that shooting 14 bit RAW slows my d300 by a lot... shall go home and change to shoot in 12 bit...

my first time at Dempsey Hill... had Chicken Paella @ Villa Enrique. Good stuff... I would highly recommend it

If they manage to dump tomatoes and peas all over the rice.... and cook it well enough that I finished all of it...

.... that says something.

Here is my best friend with a borrowed 550D and a 17-55 from the department. He finished his tomatoes too.

i think i was dreaming of the nikon 17-55 recently too...

need to practice more... first time handling a borrowed D3 and 85 1.8 that my friend kindly lent me.

as you can see.... i have much to learn about tighter framing

i have no regrets using this thread to mark my progress and journey.. and that includes mistakes made too...

i almost always make a mess about symmetry when taking HDB shots because i have this paranoia that someone is going to call the police to report a voyeur lurking around with a DSLR.

after a while, you start to be able to tell the difference between average lenses (including my 3rd party Tamron 17-50) and pro lenses

and you begin to lust for better sharpness, better contrast, better colour reproduction, better bokeh (the quality of bokeh can be very harsh on the tamron), better low light performance

right now.. my tamron is sharp... but the default output contrast and colour (character?) is bugging me

note the light falloff in the image too... but i kinda like the vignetting

but anyway, contentment!! master current equipment then my next upgrade when I do start work will be... fulfilling...

last week of school this semester... essays... essays...
