It would be pretty difficult to engineer the grip to hold batteries and make it a functional power supply. There is currently no way to connect the power from the grip to the camera apart from the contacts in the battery compartment. U need pretty precise plastic engineering to make the extension fit the battery compartment (like the 7D's grip)...

Man I'm getting this one SO hard :D

Problem will be, shipping it to Belgium (any suggestions?)
I can't read that website at all...

That's because the Canon grip already has a battery compartment and the contacts are there.. but I still dun know how the power from the batteries can be supplied to the camera... see the other thread where I responded...

If you look carefully the power is being supplied to the 6VDC supply located behind the camera. I suppose the camera has +1.4VDC tolerance to accept the 7.4VDc input.

Is that confirmed or just a supposition? Quite an expensive experiment...;p

First of all the camera runs on 7.4VDC. A rechargable battery is not going to maintain 7.4V through out its discharge. Which means that the camera can actually run at a lower voltage. Anyway this setup has already been tested by a user.

So, is that anyway to buy this grip from abroad?
Thanks!:embrass:

i am thinking other additional things... 7.4 is open circuit voltage...
when loaded ussually there is a voltage drop. + what smtan said.
This is not the usual case for DC adaptor... that is maybe why rated as constant 6v.

will try to get a lithium this afternoon... (sounds like doing nuclear experiment here)
wish me luck...

Anyone in Singapore purchase the vertical grip from Korea?

Hi you all 5D users are keen, let's get Perly to help to bring in these two items. I have met him the other evening to purchase a hand strap from him. I mentioned to him about this Dicain website that has the items. I think we have to pay him in advance first so that you can make the payment to Dicain for the items to bring in.

I will contact Perly to check this forum on this threads and if there is a sizeable group of 5D users keen and really interested on this, let's do it. How about that ?

Will contact Perly and see what he say.

Thanks

That will be Great  . Anyway as a backup, I've email the site for advice.

Let's see how it goes.

Please inform me when you are going to MO. I'm currently using a DIY grip. getting a proper grip would be nice.

any update?

Any solid plans yet for a KM5D BattGrip M.O.???

Do let us know how it goes....the final price, how many pieces required before he will do a MO.

Thanks alot.
