ya, really interesting!
must be an expert kite flyer, otherwise the camera will be smashed if the kite drops.
How did you get the camera to take the pictures? Time lapse/interval?

thanks for sharing, it is really interesting and inspiring. :)

Hi wave125s!
:embrass: I am not expert la.....

I can only try not to let the kite drops, but, I can't prevent the camera from smashing..... when the kite drops.
:bsmilie:

what is an Intervalometer? I'm guessing it's a remote controller with super long range?
where got sell, and is it specfic to a camera?

Ay, time lapse and interval, I'm actually refering to the same thing - getting your camera to take a shot every x min, till a specific number of shots.

An intervalometer is a device which counts intervals of time. (Other names include interval meter and interval timer). Such devices commonly are used to signal, in accurate time intervals, the operation of some other device. For instance, an intervalometer might activate something every 30 seconds.

In photography, intervalometers are used to trigger exposures. This is often done for a time-lapse series. It may also be used to take, or begin taking, picture(s) after a set delay.

Time-lapse photography is a cinematography technique whereby the frequency at which film frames are captured (the frame rate) is much lower than that which will be used to play the sequence back. When replayed at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing

For [GoPro Hero HD 960], intervalometer in one of the built-in functions.
As for DSLR, I think, there are some "Add-on" Device that can perform such function. (e.g. The Canon Time Remote Control (TC-80N3)):D

Very interesting and offers a whole new perspective!!!

Makes kite flying purposeful, otherwise in my opinion, kite flying is rather bo liao... see the kite go up far far, hold for a while, then wind back...
Can your DIY rig holds all sorts of camera? Think of selling?

............. kite flying is rather bo liao... see the kite go up far far, hold for a while, then wind back...

:o I think that is 20 years ago.... there are so many difference types of kite out there... SLK (Single Line Kite), Dual, Quad..... (there are many many sub categories......) :D

Very nice!! Flying kites is my other passion and we should hook up some day, and maybe go to one of the kite festival to take a pic of the festival from the sky!

BTW, how do you rig your camera to the kite or kite line? Maybe you should invest in a sled-kite for more stability.

No Problem! just drop me a message.

Acutally, I am using a Picavet Suspension system to hang my KAP Rig.

This is how Picavet Suspension system works in KAP.

I just lost my Premier SLED 24 during a super strong wind, the 150lb Swivels ring give way.
I still have a Premier SLED 36, this pull is almost like a 6-7m delta kite...... unless you want to hang your DSLR, and willing to help me bring down the kite after shooting... :bsmilie:
if talk about stability, i think a Rok will be better...

Hi Victkh, I use a apps call "TimeLapse - Free", just remember under the "Video" setting, disable the "Encode Video", then the apps will capture in photo mode.
