If it is really 2.2K. Geesh...I will need to make a fast decision whether to get this or the K30. Need a camera in 3 weeks time for my holidays. Seems like the price is on the high side though. Is the first batch of K5IIs 'Made in Japan'?

K-5 IIs MSRP in the US is $1299USD, that's $1587SGD. We all know it's pretty easy to find cheaper prices over there from some online sources.

In Australia it's $1197AUD right now, which is around $1525SGD:

Add 7% tax on these, the retail price here shouldn't be more than $1700SGD, at least $500 less than the above listed price for K5IIs.

Let's hope the actual street prices will be $500 less than the above listed price, otherwise they won't be easy to sell...

yah man even add in shipping max will be S$1899, hope the street price will be much cheaper, even D7000 with 18-105mm is cheaper around S$1700+

Don't think the street price will be $500 less, probably $200 less on the above listed price. They need to run the rebates and still maintain a certain margin for the retailer...

Seriously unattractive pricing. With Nikon FF not very much more locally, there is little incentive to stay with Pentax unless one wants to stick with APS-C sensor.
I don't care very much with rebates because at such prices, it makes more sense to buy overseas, even if it is a grey set and with shipping and with GST. Wasted opportunity to win over local Pentax users imo.

i was considering to maybe get this because of the better AF in low lights but now the price is quite high..with the current price for 2nd hand k5,i think it is a good choice to get k5 used rather than going for the new k5II or k5IIs somehow..the price diff to sell k5 and top up another 1k plus for the new one is too high.

I think if that's the case,need to top up so much i rather add abit more and grab myself the FA31 ltd to complete my FA princess set even.

Is there a store in JB that you can get at this price?

I give 1-2mths for the real price to settle in SGP.
If it does not, maybe I even 'sabo' distro by organizing K5IIs buying trips in JB.

For god's sake its only the RCP that's published. not even the "REAL" street price and you guys are already speculating all the negativity. why dont you wait until the "real" price is out then make your comments.
Just look att he Pentax Q forum. they did a good job with the price. i bet they will again for the K5II street price.
