Wonderful!!!

Okay guys... I managed to secure a K100D super body with 2GB card in mint condition @ 550

I will keep my D200 for some time until I am comfortable to switch to a K20D ;)

Now given a choice, which one should I get... CZ 50 1.4 or VL 58 1.4  ?

IT HAS BEGUN :bsmilie:

IF given a choice...Pentax A50mm 1.2 :bsmilie:

i dun think any one here got the chance to compare them side by side, but so far optically i think very close, CZ should edge the VT slightly, but then again the CZ is more expensive... i wish i have to chance to compare them side by side, but i think u won't go wrong with either lens...buy what u can afford bah...pentax M or A 1.4 is also pretty good, cheaper too

you should try M42 mount lense on pentax DSLR...antishake works perfect..

Haha... 50 1.2 should be perfect but very expensive more than the CZ 1.4 ! I think, VT 1.4 should be a good begining... :)

Oh! M42 I never thought before... sorry very new to Pentax and no Idea what M42 is :dunno: is it the Medium format for Pentax?

50mm 1.2 should be about the same price as the CZ i think...guess u already decide on the VT...

M42 there are screw mount....need a adapter...m42 lens are still used by many ppl, cos of their built and very good optical quality...can find many of them in ebays and sometimes in the BnS...and they are not expensive...can use on almost all different mounts as long as u have the adapter...

Actually why not consider the FA 50mm f/1.4.
Reasonable price, image circle covers FF, can be used as manual focus or AF lens, very compact, build quality is good and optical performance is no slouch.

YES! Why not... less than half the price compared to the CZ and still much better than the Nikon 50 1.4

I am thinking of the VT 58mm as well having 8 aperture blades the bokeh should be much better! Any one have idea about that ?

Bro, the FA50 also has 8 aperture blades too. Bokeh isn't just a function of the number of aperture blades but lens construction too. As much as the CZ and Voigtlander are great lenses, in reality the difference in bokeh is really not significantly better than what the FA50 can offer, imo. Plus the option of AF is useful for available light and fast moving subjects where you may not have the luxury of time to focus manually.

Save the difference and plan for the other Limited lenses like the FA31, DA35 Macro or FA77. That's more poison for you!!! :bsmilie:

Cool! Done deal bro! I have just seen your blog  Great detail on all the super lenses Pentax has to offer...

I am itching my hands right now... Who knows tomorrow I go out and come back with a K20D+FA 50 1.8 :)

Oh yes... thanks for clearing my misconception about the quality of Bokeh being related to only number of blades

Pentax got two 50mm lenses for the FA series, the current FA 50mm f/1.4 and the FA 50mm f/1.7 which is out of production. While C & N have cheap f/1.8 versions of the 50mm, build quality is frankly... blah! Comparing f/1.4 lenses, the Pentax FA 50mm f/1.4 offers better value than the similar C or N versions. If you want something more affordable, the manual focus A 50mm f/1.7 is a good one too. If you're prepared to spend a little more and want something a little wider, the FA35mm f/2 or FA43mm f/1.9 Limited are good alternatives.

True... I have been using the 85 1.8D for many years! Could not justify the cost for the 1.4 but then I tried the 77 1.8 today! it completely swept me of my feet :bsmilie: I almost said NO to fengwei for his 16-50 as the cost was about the same :bsmilie:

I will get it some time soon... cannot control for long

Congrats again on the purchase. It's a good start (and you got a bargain, 2 bargains actually). And as I told you in the shop, you need to get a FA77, and my FA*300/4.5 ;p, you'd be done for a great start :bsmilie:
