Thank you for using a PENTAX K10D digital camera.
PENTAX wishes to announce the release of Firmware Update Software Version 1.10 for K10D.
Firmware in this document is the software that runs inside digital cameras.

Changes to V1.10
The following function has been added in version 1.10
1. Wireless control of external flash through built-in flash.
2. Instantly return to centre AF point by one push of button in AF select mode.
3. Possible to change ISO setting by dial at TV/AV mode.
4. ISO setting change by dial while the ISO setting is being displayed on the LCD by pushing OK button.
5. Green button function in M mode is available at TAv mode (Hyper manual).
6. AV and TV switch by dial at P mode.
7. Instant return to the default value by green button at strobe light compensation.
The following contents have been corrected.
1. In rare case, vertical stripe at long time exposure.
2. Released “B exposure” and show battery empty sign when using B mode.

It'll be there in several days Some guy just got it earlier from some insider. Not an official anouncement yet, but I know many have updated w/o any probelm.

Although I've downloaded it, I'd wait until the official anouncement comes out

Yes, I just tried with AF500FTZ. External flash is triggered, unaffected by pre-flash, built-in-flash meters and fires like normal.

Tried wireless flash with TTL flash after firmware upgrade.

Have to set flash mode as Flash Fires, not Wireless, with either custom setting. Built-in flash contributes to exposure. Don't have P-TTL flash to test out.


Something I just discovered, don't know whether new or not.

In Av and Tv mode, pressing of Green Button changes shutter for Av, aperture for Tv, back to Program Line, ISO value adjusted to maintain exposure. In Function Menu, ISO becomes Auto, however it remains adjustable with external dials if Custom Functions allows. Once adjusted, ISO changes from Auto to user-set value.

Just a few more days and maybe Pentax will add/tweak the firmware in the last minute again...wait for the official announcement and post from Pentax is safer...not that the K10D is not functioning now...

I am really only more interested in the banding thingie even thou i only encountered it once thus far, a iso 400 pic.

Since the zip file is quite big (over 2MB), so it is only open for registered users at PentaxWorld.com.

Please note that personally I do not encourage flashing your K10D with this unofficial firmware, but the file is more of a reference/curious reading purpose. (there are some other files inside the zip file beside the bin firmware update)

Just upgraded the firmware. Confirm the jpg files are the same before and after the upgrading...

Some users reported the new firmware fixed their back/front focusing problem. I didn't see this problem before. Just tested my FA43, the focusing is still spot on
