July 2010 Pentax Outing Photos

nice!

Stunningly Beautifully! What time was that? What are the settings? PPed? Next time got to teach me the serect, please.

Thanks!
Timing was from 6.45 to 7.15. Sun goes up significantly after that. The day can be better, with richer colors, but its hard to tell for sure. The only hint of a potentially good day is a rain the night before (today would have been good to try).

Camera HDR on setting 2. I typically start off with ISO100, f8, 8s and fudge from there (this is the setting ~6.45am which is darker than later). I brought a GND and ND there as well, but decided to use HDR instead.

Here are a few shooting against backlights:

The DA100 macro WR certainly has a nice circular aperture as seen in the bokeh
A no brainer for someone looking for a 100mm macro given the price delta to the older model.

The dragon eyes:

Impressive!
This was done with the 100mm macro?

:thumbsup:Another fun outing with many beautiful shots from everyone. Thanks for sharing.:)

Yes, that's one of the things I love about this new 100 macro lens :)

Yup, but cropped quite a bit of course ;)

Wah this is really a very nice shot!

Thanks. They are two better ones among many blurry shots.

Had lots of fun chasing them around to get a shot. Too bad I had to go by noon and could not explore insect shooting more.

taken with 125 + ext tube? looks good. is the lens of super takumar manual focus version?

So many lovely shots taken by our fellow pentaxians!

Fengwei! Can you teach me how to take those dragon eyes?
Was he using Live View?

That's easy, just tell the dragon to stand steady, and stare at you for long time. That's all
...besides that, the dragon must be stunt after hearing FW said he is plannng to sell some gear at great prices.:bsmilie:

Yes, this was 135mm+25mm extension tube. Its the SMC-K 135/2.5

Working distance becomes about 60-70cm (from 1.5m), which is good, but its focus range is ~20-30cm from that which can be limiting and a pain.

btw, I added the setup info to those few shots. :)
