Ok, sam's shop is seriously understaffed

and even when i go, i have to wait for 2 hours for my lens, and finally he told me that his father did not put the lens in the storehouse

and i was like oh... ok.

sometimes even regulars get bad treatment

but of course, there are plenty of other shops to go, and i'm sure one will fit you:)

Waiting for 2 hours for a lens is bad service. Waiting for 2 hours just to be told a **** and bull story is much worse. :bsmilie:

John 3:16.... you can said they provide gd service, but sometime I may find them over doing it. spending too much time on individual while others are left waiting. Price wise not that gd and sometime over quote too.

With a little bit of gd service plus gd price, this few shops that i always go, TK Foto, MS Color (main) and SLR Revolution.

the final answer for all this, its ur money in ur wallet. Not happy with service then move on. There are so many camera selling shops in SG beside them. Why die die must go there and spend time waiting for your turn. Customers will have the final say, cos it was the customers who got the $$ to spend. NOT the seller. !!!!

i know, but didnt wanna kick up a fuss cos it was crowded and he's an old friend

however, i noticed everytime i went or others went, those er, tourists and esp newbies tend to ask alot of questions (not a bad thing, but pls hve a limit) and hog up the entire front line...

gonna give SLR revolution a try. looks like J316's reputation is dropping from day to day

What will Samuel think when an old friend walked into the shop right across his? :bsmilie:

don't wanna sound crude, but maybe he should kinda see to the problems.

as you can see the amount of complains in the thread...

i just did...Sam actually saw me last saturday coming out of SLR revo carrying a newly bought tripod and a vanguard bag ;p honestly, im a little bit paiseh then, as if im turning my back to an old friend...

i was one of those people who bought all of my gears from body to lenses from Sam, but the last time i bought my 70-200mm, i promise to myself that, that will be my last look with J316...

reason? i emailed them first for the price of such lens before i pick it up after ofc only to tell me that the price emailed to me was not updated...im a regular customer and it was $30 higher! tsk tsk...no time to get to another shop since im leaving oversea day afte
r...

J316 one customer...out :thumbsd:

:gbounce:

I went there twice after reading so much good reviews on them on this forum.

The first time: the shop was almost bursting with people. I gathered that they wouldn't have time for my queries on a D90, so I left.

The second time: I wanted to make sure that it wasn't becos they ignored me becos I was a female, so I waited for just a while and fortunately, one of them asked if he could help. But I also walked out not buying a thing bcos they didn't have stock and their price for a D90 was higher than some shops I'd enquired.

I didn't go back there since becos I thought the shop was overrated. Maybe they are helpful, but the prices certainly don't appeal to me.

A wake up call? :bsmilie:

Nope, its nothing but pure business.... Does old Frz got special discount? lolx

If he know the problem, he should have "TRY" or "Doing" something to resolve the issue and not being status cold :P

For excellent, competitive and good customer can walk across to the opposite SLR Revolution, just metres away.

I guess Sam and Leslie may be reading this thread and I sincerely hope they will accept the feedback humbly. There is always room for improvement.

They were pretty patient with me and in fact I get good service from those young chap. (Volunteer and part timer?!)

Sure. The price is quoted higher in J3:16.

On one occasion, I felt that one of the boss was not sincere, citing it wasthe only lens in stock without letting me to try another lens. I may be paranoid and I reckon benefit of doubt should be given to them. Yes, U guys would comment that I can choose not to buy.

Willing buyer, willing seller. I guess I will do my homework and buy from those reputable shop that offer better price. I will still give J3:16 a chance.

Well, that's bad when they themselves don't honor their own eQuote. Even if it is a mistake, they should be able to absolve it as their profit margin is definitely not just $30.

I guess you treat them as old friend but they did not think of you as an old friend (customer). So no need to be paiseh since they are just treating your acquaintance as business transactions.

Hi, Funan has few camera shops, not like computer shops in Sime Lim. So, let us hope for more camera shops in Funan with more competitions as the number of people buying cameras
has gone up due to influx of foreigners.

Never realized there is this thread.
I am going to say.

I WILL NEVER VISIT THAT SHOP AGAIN!

Well the ones at SLS are mostly "chop shops" except one or two so the more they pop up, the more dangerous for us consumers. I think most will agree only Orient Photo at level 6 is an honest shop with the jury still out on AP Photo on the ground floor. All others? :dunno:

i have bought stuff from bally photo a well known regarded chop shop at SL... but that was a 5d2 battery grip that was otherwise unavailable in SG. and it was based on their regular customer's reference (my friend) and the price was decent.

the other shop in SL that is decent is edison photo. price quoted is always competitive and most of the time cheaper than other shops.

all other times, i visit my regular cathay photo (duncan) and give him business even though he may be 10s of dollars more expensive than another shop. its near my office place, and he always lets me test and play with the latest gear with no push or obligations.

my regular shop nowadays are OP and CP-Penisula. CP service and pricing had improved alot. My regular salesman is Kevin who is patient and not pushy on selling u items u dun need.

OP is always fuss free and u can browse with no pressure. U can walk in and walk out within 10minutes if you know what you want.

I bought some PNS cameras from Edison Photo before I started using DSLR. They are quite good in pricing and service. :)

Really hated the long wait at J316 and there are a few times whereby the stock had supposedly "arrived" and when I went down to pick up (not before waiting 30-45 minutes), I was told that the item didn't arrive.
