Good for you...like what everyone said JO is a reputable shop and I like doing business with them

Well the warranty card should be inside the box, not lying around in a drawer somewhere. So, they definitely made a mistake in not putting the card back into the box when they pack it back for you.

for nikon : go to their website and register their products and you will enjoyed additional 3 months warranty on body
for tamron : no need to send register card, just produced the warranty card and shop issued receipt should you need to send in for repair

so we do physically have the piece of warranty card?

Yup, for everything u buy, regardless body or lens, can be any brands, sure got one piece of warranty card.

If u buy any body or lens and the shop say anything wrong go back to them or will help u to send to agent, but dun have any physical piece of warranty card in box, the good luck to u;p

Yeah, you're right. Though a reputable shop but still by right warranties should be in the box. Well.. a reason why they took the warranty card out maybe cuz all of their lens or body are 'tested' by any other customers  Imagine on a busy weekend like Sat.. every 'new' lens or body are tested.. and not all of them made the purchase after playing around.. haha :nono:

Btw, I heard Nikon now have this 'promo'. Register online now, get $20 NTUC voucher.. ha I rather forsake the $20 and 'prolong' my warranty status.. haha

That's what they're trying to do... make you register the darn warranty!

I don't understand this obsession with new things. It's a manifestation of ultra-materialism, if you ask me.

I had an experience with John 3:16 as well.
The Canon EF-S 55-250mm was given a wrong warranty card, one that differs from the box and lens serial number.
Didn't notice until I wanted to registered for Canon's warranty. Went back and one of the guy practically searched through an entire file of warranty cards.
Apparently, they keep tons of warranty card. I don't know why but my original one must have been placed in some other box that was sold.

Awaiting a replaced warranty card from Canon, requested through John 3:16.

Whether it's a reputable shop or not, make sure you check the lens, check the warranty card serial number, check the serial number on the box.
Sometimes it might not be the fault of John 3:16 cause they will take stocks from AP or other nearby shops just to seal a deal. Sometimes it might be a human error as John 3:16 allows testing of equipment and the shop can get really messy. In any case, I won't be buying new stuff from them unless it's bags or small acessories. Looking at the number of hands molesting their new on the shelf equipment is rather daunting to me.

It's been two weeks and I just went down to enquire on the status regarding my issue.
Apparently from the guy's face, I doubt any action was down. I have to make a call to remind him on Monday.

I have not bought anything of significance from them since 2005.

How can this be.... don't register and have extended warranty?
Register only when there is a problem? Surely this can't be! Or is it?

Nikon, or the shop? :D

Hi all, guess everyone here have their every own good or bad experience at John 3:16.

I have no doubt in their salesmanship; its brilliant. But there is one occasion when I ask for the availability of CIR POL for 52mm. And what I got was a weird look and Sam told me no one gets a 52mm CIR POL, where he ended with a little giggle.

So what does he mean? If one own a 52mm lens, does that mean it don't work or is he laughing at those who ask for it? So what if this is just a kit lens and I want to fix it with a CIR POL. And dare to say, I got it from AP, and dare to say, I snap a good shot of a sunset scene using a 52mm lens with CIR POL attached. And I got good C&C.

So what does he gotta say about this? And there is a purpose for the manufacturer to provide this filter size, right?

It makes me think that they are choosing type of customers to serve and gives good service. Those who are giving them small profit business will either wait or given a discounted service.

I felt discriminated at that moment as he was half-way serving others and a few customers' eyes were looking at me. After he told me the cost and say he can order the filter coz they don't keep that size in their shop, I told nevermind and walked off.

I am here to say kit lenses can take stunning shots too. If such businessman just want to earn your big bucks and forget about giving real service to customers from all levels, then they are not good in their service. So what if the price they offer might be lower than some other shops.

If Sam see what I've written here, he owe me a public apology.

Good one!!!
Shops should really work on their service more.
Spend $10 is also business ma, they should really provide better business or else wat is the only reason that ppl go back to John?

I don't agree that their service is any good, at least for me. I went there once to ask for an original battery for my S5 Pro 8 months ago. The salesman just gave me a cheeky look and said, "We don't have it. Next time, buy the battery before you buy a camera." Words of wisdom indeed. I never stepped into their shop since. :thumbsd:

I'm going to try Parisilk next time. Almost all of my stuff was bought from JOHN 3:16

Problem is when ever you go back, they just say "Hi bro" and they don't even bother to help you. Old time customers don't get service. You just have to wait and wait and wait, till the shop is a little free, then you can ask your question. Else you can wait till next year and you get nothing in return.

Service has really dropped big time:thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

try going on a tuesday evening after office hours, you'll be brush aside by the office ppl (customers) at the count...waited almost 20 minutes with no news of the lens i'm looking for.

Er, I don't think he was trying to be insulting, but his manner can be a bit flippant sometimes. In this case, insensitive, maybe but hardly to the level of "discrimination" that requires a "public apology." Please......that's being over sensitive and you have neither legal nor moral grounds to claim it. You want REAL discrimination, you go to Cathay and watch them serve particular clientele over locals regardless of who came in first. Otherwise, just vote with your feet as you've already done.

If you're going to be this sensitive, I guarantee you that somewhere along the way, you're going to be pissed with every major camera shop that's discussed in these forums. Just read the forums, and you'll see that everyone has a kudos to give or a horror story to tell about their "favourite" camera shop. And this hardly constitutes the worst of the transgressions: heck, even in case of attitude, this is open to interpretation at best, and doesn't compare remotely to anything else you read on the forums.

I don't think you've considered the fact that he may have made that remark in the light of the fact that nobody in his customer base buys 52mm filters, and that also explains his lack of stock for it? In which case, the remark is not directed at you but at the scarcity of requests for that filter. You make a vain attempt to turn it into a matter of class discrimination by saying he is discriminating against those with kit lenses: how the hell would he know what you were shooting with? Some very expensive older Nikon manual lenses use the 52mm filter size too: if he had made that remark to them, what would your spin have been then?

John 3:16 has much in their act to clean up, I agree. The LONG waits from asking for a lens to paying for it, are why I don't go there anymore. I know exactly what I want, so these days I just go to Lords or Orient Photo, no fuss no muss shopping. Your mileage may vary.

Why bother to buy from John 3:16?

The shop opposite him gives better service and price.

I dun understand why people like to buy from them having known that there are places better and cheaper. :bsmilie:

Going to 3:16 sometimes long wait some more, waste your own time.

I have been patronising John 3:16 since I bought my FM2 from them in 1996. my only complaint is the long wait but everything else is excellent. After sales service is top notch. I have nothing to say but good things about them (except the wait which I think is understandable)

Actually I have no idea why he owes you an apology. He was just commenting that its rare that people uses CPL for 52mm and he can order it for you if you wan it.

I have heard of people asking for items that costs $10 or item that costs few thousand dollars and he responded in a similar fashion. It doesn't matter big or small bucks to them.

And if you really get good C&C for your good shot of the sunset with your CPL, you shouldn't be so sensitive bro. :)
