[Jerrick] Occasional Long Exposure Shots

Thanks richiemccaw1!

Lower Pierce Reservoir is a place relatively closer to me at heart than the other places because I used to frequent there a lot with my close friends. I still remember the times we used to play X-Box, PS3 and computer games together at my friend's house (beside the reservoir) during the holidays and after that we would go to the nearby Casuarina Curry for lunch/dinner, or maybe take a walk to the reservoir . Oh how times have passed.

I was here waiting for sunset to come but unfortunately, the clouds were really dark and not long after the sun was enclosed by them. I waited for it to reappear again but sadly, it didn't. I think it must be due to the fact that it rained earlier before that, hence the bad sky and weather. Man in the middle was fishing, tried to find a chance to take when he left but he kept standing there.

Nice shots! You have talent!

Thanks Fable!

Wanted to shoot cityscape once again but sun was bad :( Hope to be able to come here again. Lowered the contrast and saturation to exhibit the dull mood I wanted to express.

A dull late afternoon at Lower Pierce Reservoir. Sun was above but gone in a few minutes. If you realised, this is also my first potrait landscape picture (kind of ironic). Anyway, it is first day of school today as well as the release of O Level results. For those who are let down/disappointed by your results, here's an advice to look at your results from another perspective. Maybe take your distinctions as the colours and the not-so-good ones as the dull blacks? And if you have put in your best, so be it. Results do not define your future :)

Anyway, I decided to monotone the whole picture and leave the boat colours alone. I wanted to make the boat look outstanding but I don't think I achieved the result well with this subject. Will probably try out with another subject next time

First Day

This picture stands out. Composition works for me, together with the monotone background.

On a sidenote, wish I was still back in school so I can go around shooting! :)

Hey! Being a student does have its perks sometimes la, but school's starting already, and most importantly, no $$$. Luckily saved up some last few years and managed to get a part-time job during the holidays :)

I wanted to try to capture the typical human's perspective (the moment before we step forward to stick our necks out of the window) and that feeling when you know that the view 10 metres in front of you is fabulous and you started getting excited. The title obviously comes from the movie Inception, where people can access dreams within dreams. Many people started using "ception" at the end of the word to mean something inside of something.

Nice composition!

Youre really getting very good at this Jerrick. #18 is quite fantastic.

Thank you Fable and richimccaw1! Really thankful for your kind comments!

I went around Chinatown yesterday scouting for a new place to shoot cityscapes. I have already shot from one of the HDBs around Chinatown (and it seemed that that block was the only ideal place for shooting amongst the HDB flats) so this time I went to Ann Siang Hill, hoping to find a house with a naked roof and an owner who is kind enough to let me in.

Needless to say, most shops (that meet my criteria) are either offices or grand restaurants, so I walked around for approximately 30 minutes before I found the ideal spot. It was a cafe at the 4th level and the helpers were kind enough to gladly invite me in without making it compulsory for me to purchase their food. Due to the limited outdoor space, I had to make do with the parapet and did a few quick shots before hurrying off quickly so as to give them more space.

Some minor corrections in LR

Update: Corrected slight vignette at two top corners. Really need to keep my filter holder straight before taking the pics.

Nothing much to say much about this picture. Just a relatively shorter exposure traffic shot I wanted to experiment when I was walking.

Finally updating this thread after a few busy weeks at school. This was taken a few weeks ago but I never really got the time to post-process it. As the mini-jetty was locked and out of bounds to people, I had to stick my camera through the holes of the gate. Framing was a little difficult due to the tight area, hence this is the best I could do.

To Eternity

Decided to go out and shoot today once again after quite a long break. School released later than expected and there was massive jam on the way there. I rushed there and I could see the ball going down slowly. By the time I set up my things I only had time to shoot this.
Just go my 6 and 10 stops ND filter today so decided to test them out :)

Nice composition dude. A bit too much vibrance for me.. The greenish portion. :)

#13 is pretty nice, composition wise and processing wise. maybe could lose abit of the top to balance out the composition better

stuff like #19, #20, #22 have been way overprocessed. highlights have been recovered way too much, saturation is way over the top

Thanks Fable!

Need to work on the blending . The top of the building look funny . Continue shooting :)

Thanks shiosaki and Supersimon for the critiques! I think I'll work on my PP in the future. Probably will try not to use too much of it!

Wow I must say Upper Seletar Reservoir is really a nice place! Self-potrait of me under the Lone Tree. At first the clouds were covering the sun but they slowly went away, showing streaks of lights!

Wanted to try this circle polyorama so I took a panorama at USR Park. Unfortunately I missed out the last frame which resulted in a sudden change at the top part. I'll try another time in the future.
