Decided to start a thread here to push myself to improve my skill sets.

The Pianist

I was at this hotel to photograph an exhibition at the lobby. I was standing
next to this pianist after the shoot. I asked him if I can photograph him, he agreed.

It was originally a colored version but there was a very bright yellow lamp on his back and
it made the whole image yellowish.

So, I converted it to black & white to highlight the tones of light.

maybe a photo of him playing the piano? people dealing with their craft are always a joy to photograph. don't think I'd have known he was a pianist until you said so... love the processing

Yes, I realised that when I reached home to process the photographs.
It was a spur of a moment kind of thing. It was quite a surprise that he
said yes to my request. I did not want to impose on him by directing how
he should pose.

I will try to shoot him again, with him playing on his keyboard. Maybe,
this time I will buy a drink and sit inside the hotel lounge.

welcome to APAD, nice lighting situation for a dynamic portrait in my opinion, unfortunatly the facing/ direction in this instance might not be in favour looking forward for more

alot of ppl overlook this small little section in CS, but i think it really helps make us a better photographer in a way

Window and shadow
[12 August 2008 | 2300h]

Windows are fixed to the walls all the time, but its shadows move
with time and light.

You can remain still but time will not.

His profession is a pianist, hence the title is for that.
Yeah, I know about showing the piano. :embrass:

I will try again with him in the next opportunity.

I was at the East Coast Park looking for photography opportunities and bumped
into an old friend which I did not see for a long time. The dogs were with them.

And opportunities arise.

In the end, I took pictures of the son of the friend and her family. Sometimes,
subjects of photography are right in front of you. It is just that you need
look harder. The dogs are one of those subjects and I present them here.

Focus is on the white dog.

Chinese Opera Singer

I was at Tanjong Pagar when I came across this Chinese opera performance.
I stayed around and took pictures of the performance. The series can be
seen in this thread (link).

The above is part of the series. She was posing with her fans.

The Speaker
[24 August 2008]

It was raining heavily, so no outdoor shooting. I decided to visit
Suntec and see if there were anything interesting to shoot. I
chanced upon the Singapore International Jewellery Show 2008
(Hall 403/404). While waiting for the next jellewery fashion show,
there was this speaker presenting some information about
diamonds.

The main stage lights were switched off but the surrounding lights
have presented some opportunities to shoot with available light.

The child's parent wanted to take a picture of her child with this cosplayer.
He is happy.
