Aw shucks, so far the D3 lacking features compared to the D300 is sensor cleaning and lower flash sync (and pop up flash for those who use it).

Think the lower flash sync is because the curtain got to travel a longer distance.

Maybe wait for a higher MP count D3X or a FX D300X. ;p But D3 is good because the pixel size is between 1Ds and 1D mkII. So should be no problem closing the aperture down to f/22 before diffraction limit kicks in.

I would like to try Sigma 12-24/4.5-5.6 with the D3.. hehehe.. ;p

So I'd assume it's more like ISO200 to emulate ISO100 exposure.

Base ISO is 200, but it is able to reduce sensitivity probably with no improvement in noise performance if you switch to the Lo-1 mode to get ISO100.

Generally speaking from experience, not likely.

Let me tell you how I smuggled my 500mmf4 home a few years back:

I left it in the car boot till midnight than carry it into the house when all asleep. Then realised dry cabinet too small. So hide it deep inside the storeroom. Next few days make alot of noise about the faulty dry cabinet, than get a bigger one. Next quietly hide the 500mm lens in dry cabinet. Next, tactical movement for a few months to bring the lens in and out of the house. After 6 months my wife notice the lens and asked, "where does this big thing comes from". My answer was "it's been then all the time you never notice meh? ask you take up photography you don't want now ask so many questions? kekekekeke.

Disclaimer: I guess this may not be applicable to newly wed honeymoon stage couples.

OK, I guess if you can smuggle in a 500/f4, you can smuggle in anything liao. Young folks and newbies, better learn from uncle OK. I have smuggled many things but nothing as big as that.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Are the 24-24 and 24-70 meant to replace the 17-35 and 28-70 respectively?

woo... finally! today is a Nikon great day!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Should celebrate such a BIG day.

is D3 using Sony sensor?

Wish BBB list: D3 :bsmilie:

KRW is fast, his kid is on the D3's 3" preview already:

Hmm that sounds logical. What I'm wondering is how come the models since the D70 doesn't use the D70's electronic shutter mechanism.

With the electronic shutter, flash sync is no longer a problem.

For me, I wont' be going for higher MP count....the D200 file size was already too big for me. I'm happy with my D100 size.

hmm....don't know if my wife would see the difference if I upgrade from D200 to D300 besides looking at the model number on the body.....maybe some gaffer tape will do the job

As long as you dont activate the Live-View feature and asked your wife to shoot a photo. Then she will say how come last time cannot now can? ;(

The 51-point AF is impressive. Together with the large 3.0 inch CCD and live view, I have nothing to say !:cheergal: Cheers !

Just say firmware upgraded. :bsmilie:

***, as far as i knw, is not one of the prototype tester.

i reckon he took the foto from DPreview and cleverly edited it.

Now all CMOS sensor, no electronic shutter. Only CCD has electronic shutter but the 10MP CCD sensor used by D200 and D80 doesn't seem to have an electronic shutter too.. :dunno:

Well done Nikon  Now for the real world tests.

Soon to be time to update the *discontinued models in the price thread :bsmilie:

now the SSS bug will strike CS...

BnS will be flooded with D80 and D2 series....

2nd hand watchers... time to BBB. :bsmilie:
