High ISO samples at dpreview are great with the 14-42 kit lens.
But I find the lack of AF-lamp assist lamp and built-in flash disappointing.:(
I'll probably wait for EP2

Did olympus release a lens roadmap? I am more interested in that then the EP-1.

DAMMIT.... NO MID-YEAR BONUS!

whine whine whine whine whine....

dcresorce mentioned focussing is slow, up to a few seconds in low light??

You're lucky to have a job. Some don't even have like me.:(
Look on the bright side:)

Hi there, It is not available for sale yet, it appears all over websites from USA to Australia.

wow its nice! completely retro and fantastic... and somehow it can go iso 6400 xD. its very handy to know you have that handy in emergencies.

Can't wait to have one, just for the size of it, and I can use my OM lenses too, but darn adapter is more costly than my OM-1 body ;p. Must sell my other dslr to finance this, can't afford 2, hint to those without bonus :).

The black one is still not all-black, maybe I go for white ...

Those high-iso images are good ... !

bro,cheer up, I DON'T EVEN GET ANY FREAKING BONUSES!!!!:angry::bsmilie:

Well, to put things into perspective, I've spent my non-existent mid-year bonus on a Nespresso Citiz and a Stokke high chair already.

So...

Sample images on dpreview. I think the high ISO shots up to 3200 are pretty ok.

Also, I heard it is expected to ship in July 2009. That is half a month away!

Preorder is possible on Amazon.com at the following prices:

Body Only - US$699
14-42mm Kit - US$799
17mm Kit - US$899

That is lower than the price of 500D and about the same as D5000.

:D
The price is fantastic, considering it's with an optical viewfinder for the 17mm!

I think I'm sold.

If you want longer video recording, then yeah the GH1 is far better. For me, video is quite secondary but I'm definitely liking the super small form factor compared the the G1/GH1.

GH1 is twice the price (better lens range though). plus EP-1 records in AVI which is great for easier editing

ill probably wait a couple of months 'til the price stabilizes, but this is a damn tempting camera to get!

The Olympus lens range will expand ... and what's a 4/3 system for anyway ? Leitz, Zeiss, Cosina, etc..

And to me it's the size and shape, the only other alternative is the Leica M digital or Epson RD-1s. AV is nice to have for recording the kids or for them to play with ...

Yes, I guess waiting for price (and the product) to stabilize would be prudent ...

Olympus next higher model might be the OM digital ... just guessing ...

Any idea when will it be available here?

Time to source for some good and cheap, cute little rangefinder lenses.

Sold my G1 today! Now waiting for this little beast....
