I called Challenger, they told me their purchasing dept didn't order the dual lens kit ... Guess I'll have to go down to IMM.

Try using the AF at dim light..... compare the AF response to any half frame (non-pro Nikon or Canon) dSLR......you will agree with me. Each camera has its strength and weakness...

Erm, exactly.

And it's not just Nikon or Canon - ANY DSLR would have quicker AF than E-P1, given today's technology.

There will come a time where contrast AF would be competitive with phase detect AF.

OK, let wiki these hybrids as dSLNR, digital single lens non-reflex. :bsmilie:

Olympus E-P1 is a class of its own...

Hmm should I call it...."compact with interchangeable lens" or "dSLR without reflex mirror" or a "rangefinder without view finder"?

Yes, the purple coated steinzeiser filter is hopeless. Ghosting and flare are very serious. I threw one away last time.

Im having the same problem. H/N gave me the SteinZeiser one, got flare when I shoot indoor lighting..bleah. Where did you get your hoya??

I used to be religious about UV filters for all my lenses during my minolta days. When I switched to Contax G2, never bothered with a protective filter anymore... same treatment for the E-P1. At least the front elements for both lenses are not buldging so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and pushing my luck for now.

Yeah, I decided to leave my 17mm without protection too :bsmilie:.

E-P1 + Nokton 50/1.1, ISO 400, 1/25, f1.4, no flash

Nice camera!! btw how much is for the M-M4/3 adapter? and how far is the subject to camera for this shot?

E-P1 screen is really horrible in low light situation and indoor condition. Even my old camera - LX3 has a better screen. Was really wondering why Oly had to do such a lousy screen for the camera. And the most horrible thing was that it is MADE IN CHINA! : (

Other than that, I really love the camera!

Oh I mean , the IMM booth is selling the single lens kit for pan cake and zoom lenses ah, dont have the dual lens kit le , when I was there

Btw, the pricing for the pancake kit will be around...$1400?

Try Parisilk at Holland V. $1346 with 8GB SD. Nothing else. Need to pay by cash or nets though.

 Thanks for sharing your findings.

i cannot not use any of my lenses without a filter, cause i never use a lens cap. much faster. a habit i developed when shooting with a leica, cause sometimes just whip out cam n snap, then forget to remove lens cap n miss the shot, as i will forget cause looking through the rangefinder will not reveal anything. plus i don't want to hassle of holding onto a cap or dig around my bag for it. just take cam out n throw it back in.

i got my filter from this shop on the 2nd floor of peninsular...

That is typically a rangefinder shooter's style.

I would have thought it's impossible not to notice that the lens cap is on when shooting with the E-P1. ;)

yeah. but old habits die hard. just like used to the easy of not having to deal with a lens cap.

Well... my old habit is that I hate to shoot through a lens or filter that has dust on it. If I did not use a lens cap between shoots, I would go paranoid cleaning the dust of the lens/filter each time I take the camera out to shoot and miss more shots as a result. :(

Thanks for sharing the pricing.

Saving up now. :)

It's an Oly tradition. Even if you pay three times the price. You'll still get a substandard screen.

erm. i don't find any faults with the lcd screen. it's just a blown up issue, or rather non-issue.
when ppl online complain bout it based on tech specs only, i kinda got worried, but just bought it anyway.. when using it, to me, it feels like 10x better than my ricoh grd1 n dp1 screen. maybe 4x better than my nikon d200 screen...

Have you used the new screens? Specifically, the VGA screens on the latest crop of DSLRs? Dropping back down to the EP1's screen is quite a jarring shock.
