This is caused by internal flaring. What this means is that due to the cheap coating of the lower grade filters, when light passes the filter, it hits the front element and bounces off back to the filter and because of the crappy coating, causes a flare. That disappears when you remove the cheap filter. Or use a better grade one with good coating.
focusing at nite is abit tricky, nearly always cannot focus unless got bright light
I think the prob here is there is no assist lamp like our dslr which would otherwise fill in nicely for focusin
The dual kit stocks at Courts-TPY all gone except for the pancake & kit kens.
The price is very attractive:
If pay retail price, they give u 16GB Class 6 SD card, tripod, Sony portable printer and extra batt
If you dun want freebies, they will still give u the SD card & extra batt with $100 off for kit lens and $150 off for the pancake.
Oh can some kind owners check and let me know if the 'scale-focusing' display (like crosshairs on a sniper rifle) can be displayed continously when you are framing a shot with the camera? (Page 42 of the EP-1 manual if you dun know where to activate it) Thanks!
Still doing my research.. but slowly giving in![]()
That is what I suspected too, cause when I change to the higher grade BW filer, it is ok!
Sigh... should not have bought the cheap filter... now have to spend more money...
As they say, cheap things never come good, good things never come cheap.
That is why E-P1 is $ 1,400+ ; P
For those who have tried night street shooting, any difficulty focusing with the kit lens and does the LCD become very grainy?
yes. it doesn't disappear when you half-press.
Varf, but is it on even when you are framing? (before you even half press?)
Hi there,
Was wondering where can you get a 40.5mm B+W UV filter for the Pen 14-42mm???![]()
It is designed that way for easy unlocking. I prefer it that way too. If it could be locked in closed position, there is a chance that the mechanism or the lens could be damaged if the user did not coordinate the sliding of the locking lever and the twisting of the zoom mechanism properly during the unlocking action and twisted too hard when in a hurry.Wonder if there is a lock to prevent the 14-42 kits lens from extending to the open position?
Without pressing on the unlock button, i can actually extend the lens fully from the closed position to the open position. of course with a slight force. Is this normal? i expected the mechanism to be fully locked closed actually.
