A strange thing that happen to me. I am using E-P1 with the 4/3 adaptor and with a ZD 25mm pancake lens. I notice a strange flare of light whenever I am indoor shooting. Usually a reflection from the TV or something, and the light is very "ghostly". But when I remove the UV filter from HOYA, it will not have any strange flare. I change to a BW filter, it is ok too.

Is there something wrong with HOYA filters?

Anyone knows the answer?
Hoya filters come in different grades and correspondingly different prices. If you are using a cheapo grade, then it would not be as good as the higher grades. Personally, for Hoya, I would never use any grade lower than HMC.

The dual kit stocks at Courts-TPY all gone except for the pancake & kit kens.
The price is very attractive:
If pay retail price, they give u 16GB Class 6 SD card, tripod, Sony portable printer and extra batt
If you dun want freebies, they will still give u the SD card & extra batt with $100 off for kit lens and $150 off for the pancake.

This is caused by internal flaring. What this means is that due to the cheap coating of the lower grade filters, when light passes the filter, it hits the front element and bounces off back to the filter and because of the crappy coating, causes a flare. That disappears when you remove the cheap filter. Or use a better grade one with good coating.

Guys, got an issue I need your help with.

Just got my E-P1 yesterday (still playing with it :)), but as I go to sign up as an E-Club member (http://www.olympus.com.sg/eClub/register/register.asp), I realised that the E-P1 model is not available on the website.

Since it states that all fields are compulsory, I'm wonder if any of you guys have registered and what did you all put the model as?

yeah i would like to know too.
can't seem to find the time to go down the office and register, but still like the free battery.

Anyone recommend filters to use for the dual-kit lens and where to get them?

First register online. You should receive an approval email in 1 working day (est). Bring the EP-1 warranty card, receipt and approval email printout to the service centre, pay and collect your extra EP-1 battery.

E-Club membership freebies will be courier to you after payment.

ah thanks.
but tat still means i have to find time to go down...

Love the form factor of the cam, even its quirk, and very good resolution and noise control for a 4/3... but damn, this has got to be one of the worse AF I've used.

That would be Courts at Tampines Mall? But they had no stock 3 days ago. The sales person was telling me not to even consider the Pen because "it's not a DSLR can change lens only". :bsmilie: And is the retail price $1590, something like that?

I'm completely bored by Canon and is at the point of either choosing a Nikon D90 or E520. Both grips are similar and comfortable for my small hands. On the plus side, if I get the E520 + Pen I don't have to buy so many lens :bsmilie:

You should try Sigma DP1 or DP2. After that, you would not think so badly about the autofocusing of the E-P1. ;)

Parisilk Holland Village still have some white and silver zoom lens kits available... cheapest in town if you pay by cash.
The E-P1 is really flying off the shelves... come in on Friday and practically all gone by Sunday.
