Is this cool or what?!

it's not a live preview lah :)

as has already been said on the thread, live preview means if i change my aperture or shutter speed settings, or if i use ev compensation, the image (on the lcd) gets brighter or darker, and you can see the effect of changing the settings, not just the numbers changing.

this just gives some tilt/swivel type capabilities.

Nah.. it can't be adjusted, the tilt screen is fixed.

how come from the way u guys talk... like kinda demoralising for me ar? ;p

like i say... if i use DMF, den i change the focusing?
if you've adjusted the diopter accurately through your eyes, then using the LCD will give you OOF photos.s

the title of the press release says rotating lcd screen leh? hee, can tilt but cannot swivel?

DCA, not trying to deflate ur enthusiasm lah. just nitpicking about what is/isn't live preview.

i doubt ppl would leave this on the viewfinder all the time, but it'd be good for shooting at funny angles, or for sneaky shots. so while it doesn't give an slr the advantage of live preview, it does add the odd-angle capabilities more expensive digicams have.

yup. its no diff from the angle finder, just another batt sucker and waste $$ to repair when LCD has dead pixels.

becos the LCD has a perfect eyesight but not yours if you've adjusted the diopter to suit your eye.

sorry ah, never used an slr before... angle-finder can't be used at waist level/away from eye right? so still got some advantage lah. if can get rid of the mirror slap it'd be a really stealth camera...

hahaha... ya i do.
maybe when i get my wide angle lens, i don't need to squat liao. wide enough to capture everything i see! :bsmilie:

oh, and thats why i keep my A1 with grip. i can use the shutter button on the grip and not many ppl know. no shutter sound and 28mm f/2.8 lens!

yup but that's just the scale. those live preview that showed the immediate result on the LCD is very useful and that made sure you'll capture what you want.

U could always use the DOF preview button? Actually does the digicam's LCD reflect your settings? I mean if u were on full manual at f/2.8 1/30 sec and u up the shutter speed to 1/125, will the LCD become correspondingly darker? I have never used one of these in manual mode, so dun know.

But the description clearly says u can take overhead shots, etc.... and if the screen can't be tilted how do u do that?

those digital cameras (not DSLR) that uses the LCD for live preview allows you to see what you'll get when you take a shot. Just as what you've mentioned, changing the shutter speed, aperture and any settings will allow you to see the resulted effect as you would see in the jpeg file. that's why a live preview is very handy. where you meter and its mode you've set, you'll also see the resulted image "live" on the LCD. with this feature, there's no need for grey card, expo-disc filter, and worry about your white balance, etc... all of these you'll see it "live" on the LCD. of course, you'll sacrifice the lifespan of your CCD.

I just answered my own question.... not a very elegant concept/solution it seems... a swivel would work wonders... although it seems that for studio it beats squinting into the angle viewfinder.... some 8 pages of photos to show you how to use this thing...

Thanks! So, it can only rotate on the axis of the VF. :bsmilie:

No! It's worse that that.... u must detach it and then re-attach it... does not even rotate.... I think version 2 if it makes it to the market will be tiltable and rotatable like a digicam's LCD panel and will also have at least the resolution of a DSLR's LCD screen.

and probably only 2 inches. oly's new digicam has a 3.5 inches LCD!
